French is telling me to...?  ??? I dont listen to any French, or any other nationality  ;D But ill have to check that wiki thing...

But have you thought why LHD is better. Two reasons for example:
-most important gears in racing, shifting gears from 2nd to 3rd, just "extend" your right arm. Or 3rd to 2nd, just pull your arm towards you. Much easier move that if driving RHD car and you have to shift with your left hand with weird moves :)
-Also, most of the racing circuits are drive clock wise, then most of the turns usually are to right. So, in LHD car you see apex of the corner sooner than when RHD car...

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Jon, It is tempting but I have a few jobs to do on the race car, plus the boot and the redesign of the rear wing and need to concentrate on my poor neglected RX-4. Four weeks will soon zomp round.

BTW, LHD or RHD ----------never found a difference to driving style-----------probably owned 5 LHD cars over the years including the Mustang which was a 10 second street / Strip car, I ran it for a season and won 5 of 7 rounds I entered to win a championship -------best bit was Sterling Moss presented me with a nice big silver cup which was sadly stolen along with all my other trophys years ago

Love the mustang clive I remember you telling me about it and sterling moss presenting you the trophy. Did you run  a Windsor block? As you found you could more rpm out of it?

As for LHD/RHD...... I watched a video recently that explained the origins of it. It’s something to do with horse and carriages and where you would sit on them depending on all sort of stuff. I will see if I can find it

Thanks for the link Grant, now we know, now where's that Jarno who still obeys what Napoleon wanted  :)) :))

Yes it had a very bored out Windsor lump and I was probably one of the first running lots of NOS  :)

It was so new at the time over here I could not get the gas for it, so a "friend" found me a medical bottle of laughing gas that took up the width of the boot, lasted me all season as I set it up so it only injected on 3/4 throttle  :D

Hmmmmmm, ??? NASCAR stayed with Windsor blocks for years with Cleveland heads on top, best of both worlds   ;)

Dammit! Dont know what I was thinking and typing, somekind of brainfart... :-?

But yes, I meant to say that Windsor IS the better option for racing, not Cleveland!

C block is better for, actually for nothing, cause they both are Fords

Back to Mazda's and not Fords   ;)

With Castle Coombe  up next, I thought I would find the time from last years race on TSL Timing / 1.19.9 so it will be interesting to if the car is faster here as well.

Took the car over to my mate Steve's workshop and worked out what we are going to do with the rear wing mounts, the car should look very different again once it comes out for Coombe. I also worked out that while its there I can get more weight out of the rear doors :)

Jon, for comparison, what times your FD and Westy can do at Combe?

+3 seconds out off previous time would be achievable I reckon. But lets make target to get to 1.15 range  :great:

Westy pb a 1.16 consistently 1.17...on slicks mind.
Fd pb 1.18 consistently 1.19 on semi slicks generally been 2 up with Works apprentice alongside.
I estimate 1.16 as Clives gotta learn car in qualify etc.
Make no doubt 1.16 is fast around combe, circa average speed of 90mph...the home grown combe race series special gts are lapping 1.10 consistently front runners, but these guys know the circuit like the back of there hands and the cars are mega builds sequential boxes etc. All set up and dialed in for Combe.
Its a fast flowing circuit should suit Clives rx8 well....im excited and in the race hes only gotta be quicker than everybody else whatever the time....and have fun lol.
