Ray is going to be Pit crew

Spent the day geting 8 wheels and tyres fitted up on rims, proper BTCC wets for the morning and providing I have the brakes set up and the track drys out from all the forcasted rain, new 9.5 Enkei's with new R888R's to try out.

Sat looking at UK gear ratios overnight and with 3 six speed gear-boxes dead in Christine's life I am going to fit an RX-8 5 Speed box tomorrow.

It has longer 1st and 2nd gears so may well improve the car off the start line.

Do you know Grant what a fd box is good for bhp wise? Chris CJR put alot of pony through his....gotta be a threshold....somebody cant remember who told me 8 5 speed is same as fd box?

The box casing twists stop that and it'll take 500 or so at the wheels in a heavier car than the 8. Crank it up much above that though and things can get a bit exciting depending where the shrapnel goes.

Thanks...ive only ever had gearboxes get noisy/ or synchro issues never a total failure. I see on youtube that Rob Dahm fella snapping input and output shafts launching...which is understandable.

No drive in 3rd and 4th, horrible crunching sound as I applied power then no drive, last time two times, exactly the same happened but with 4th gear

Too much power mate ! Silver cloud...5 speed boxes plentiful and cheap...change annually in winter?
