Also I got 4 rockers...do you want to replace that ewp switch or just turn it on with ignition?

I feel your pain, but it looks like your winning. I replaced all the wiring on mine at the start of last year, including fuse box and relays and failed because the new fuse box was rubbish and was restricting the current, but sorted now, start again next week with a new ECU  :(
Good luck.

A few friends have said use a bespoke kit car loom and I was tempted with a marine fuse and relay box but I'm sticking with the oem fuse box.. couple of reasons it's very well made and its bespoke for the rx8 wiring. The current capacity for most circuits has been done for me there's just a few circuits that Need checking.
In addition the ecu has a lot of feedback so it triggers a relay and when relay is energised there is input back into ecu to confirm output. Without using it would have to frig these inputs somehow...risk of limp mode etc. The only prob is the thing is not that pretty but reliability and access take precedent. Pretty much identical set up ecu shortloom to fuse box that I did in Westfield so fingers crossed for same excellent reliability. Using crimps in the loom as Mazda do and I've painstakingly continuity checked every connection plus pulled on every 1. Inaddition im working of mazda eleccy drawings so its all oem so the drawings will still be an aid to faultfinding. I'm enjoying myself but will be off the hook of nerves when it starts and Clive has given it a good run out on track. When it's somebody else's car makes it a bit more daunting but I'm confident its gonna be fine and going for a start first time...unlike the engine loom lol...but that was me not turning on the 044 fuse pump lol.

I wish I had the same level of enthusiasm about wiring as you do, although working on a racing car is definitely more fun than pulling armoured cable in like I am doing on a Morrisons new build in st ives!!

That job reminded me it was when harmonised cabling came in no more red yellow blue. Old sparky couldn't get his head round it 50 odd high bay sodiums all wired black as neutral...oh how we cussed him!  At the very end all wired up to schematics...6 additional feeds for 6 insectocutors had to be pulled in but not on schematics...

Morning Jon,
Probably an idea to replace the dud water pump switch using  the  redundant screen switch, that also lets you put the ignition switch in that hole on the central dash.

It would be a good idea for it to be independent so I can check its working away from the other electrics .

Yep no prob. Ignition switch on centre dash so can't knock it with elbow. Water pump switch where old 1 is? Gonna put lights and wiper switch on right hand side high up...close to steering wheel so if you need em in a race there easy to find Ok? Or on panel? Just with gloves racing gets busy and you end switching several ?

Yes steal the red switch off the dash (screen) and use that as the water pump switch, EDFC is top line far left  (with the dash the right way up  ;)

All credit to you Jon :sign0098:. I'm an electrician by trade but vehicle wiring (especially on modern cars) give me nightmares :violent1:, even the wiring diagrams for them just cause me to not even attempt trying to resolve electrics on my own vehicle :dontknow:. Would never attempt anything like this and especially on someone elses car.
Sadly no longer with us, RIP Ray, 9 Feb 2021
