Cant do more power, as the stock gear box and diff won't take more power and I can't see me ever affording a sequential box to take above the power  I already have.

re japi

Thats the problem with newer cars. Steering is made so light that you wont feel the tires...

Same thing with ABS. They arent made for heavy breaking. Even thought newer cars have quite good ABS system and stuff, purpose of the ABS is basically the opposite that racing needs

My opinion is that always when building race car, scrap those stuff. After all. When using basic manual stuff, posibility to breaks and electrical faults becames smaller, so you have more reliable car...

Anyhoo, looking forward to see your updates! :)

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

I don’t think it’s that much comparatively too the some of the rest of the parts purchased.

It’s a large’ish amount on one item but just add the cost of a few things together.

Tyres
Brakes
Turbo
Turbo rebuild
Engine builds
Roll cage

It all adds up in the end.

However the cost of installing a 20B would be the costly part

Oh yeh and there’s the adapter housing to bolt the gear box too a rotary engine too on top of the gear box cost

Great too follow your journey and the cars develoment, especially now your having fun with it instead of rebuilding bits

Thanks Jarno/ Grant.

I was always trying to keep the RX-8 close to stock if possible chassis wise but the more I want from the car the more it has to become more of a proper race car  ???

Whilst Lisa has no problem with what I spend on the race car, I always remember at the start of the project, Lisa saying it would be a good idea to keep a folder on the build of the car etc and I said Noooooooooooooooooo, as I know a bit here and a bit there adds up and I really would not want to know the figures involved  ::) ::) ::)

Gear box, looks like that box would work dependant on matching ratios across, adaptor would not be a problem because my mate Steve is a qualified fitter and turner.

Looks like the box fits various cars so, maybe, just maybe a used box will come up over the next year.

Dahms 3 rotor is an embarrassment and he just finds it funny. Although the four rotor build he’s supposed to be spending like 250,000 on as he’s wanting it to take the land speed record for a rotary.

Have you seen his latest video? His manifold has more holes than a 50 year old wool moth eaten jumper and his turbo has a divided housing on it which is being fed by an undivided manifold! Probably one of the causes of all the cracks at the collector due to an excessive build of heat where the divide on the turbo is, at a guess anyway.
From what I understand he bought the car like that so not his doing.

He’s also buying a new turbo for the three rotor as he wants 1,000 hp!!
