Extremely bad as I have to get the padding taken out out completely as I’m too big in the back to fit in properly lol

Yep, I was the fastest out of out group of mates. I would have gone faster if I wasn’t being so aggressive and trying to ram a guy that had been ramming me until he made me half spin. They base your position based on laptime as they have mixed groups including young kids  etc who always spin out stopping hot laps!

I was always come 4th...throw it away by spinning or crashing going for the win...

Don't get hooked on Karts, now that costs serious money to play/

Glenn Butcher, who founded MRC with me sponsored his son this year in Karts-------yes he did very very well and made the World Finals at LeMans  and won a race along the way to the final but at a cost the wrong side of 100 K !

Manual (soon to be Popeye) Haynsford  ;)

I learnt last time I went to give yourself room infront so you can go for a quick couple of laps without someone holding you up. More fun actually racing others in a group all together though, outwitting each other etc

I won’t e getting into karts at all, rather play with big cars for less money, although 2 strike motors are my dads speciality

Well Brands was an interesting test on Friday with lots of info to make changes for next year,

The changes to the softer front springs to get more front bite and the extra sheeting under the car searching for more front down force seems to have worked without affecting cooling so that's positive.

Really surprised about how good the steering and found that whist the stock RX-8 is super light, I didn't realise how little feel I had, I even found my driving style was different with less steering input required, yes its heavy but stll manageable but wow, I now I can feel the tyres properly.

Happily the car ran fine so whatever the ECU limp mode thing was, the fault has gone by changing the stock ECU  :)

Next up was the brakes, I have struggled with brake feel for a while now, changing pad compounds and bleeding to no avail, I now know the ABS pump as on the odd occasion the pedal was becoming rock hard with no braking effect at all. Bottom line is you can drive a race car anywhere near properly if you have no confidence the brakes are actually going to work.

For the last session on track I pulled the main  ABS/ DSC fuse and set off and by now the track was a little dryer so I could pull 5th properly which translates in 125/130 into Paddock and as I went  for the brake the fronts completely locked immediately, so it was off the brake and a softer push to ease the car into Paddock.
I had a look next time round to find fresh 20 foot skid marks on the track.

This has made me realised that the ABS must be working overtime to compensate for the big front Racing Brake kit up front to keep the brake bias in check.

So all this has made me realise the stock RX-8 brake system simply cannot cope with what I am asking from it now so I have made the decision that we need a full blown  "race" brake system on the car and done with to give me better and later braking.

So out goes the RX-8 servo and rear calipers and in will come a proper cockpit adjustable bias duel brake master cylinder set up and FD four pot calipers for the rear, as pictured below  :great:

Without the need for the ABS system this also means the chassis wiring loom can go, saving weight in the process  :13:

I'm sure  Jon (Boosted) said he filled 7 carrier bags of loom the last time he stripped an RX-8 !

Do you think you will get more wear out of the tyres you have been using then or do you think you still need softer compound?

Just something I remember you saying earlier in the thread?

Always going to want more grip so it looks like because the car is very kind on tyres (too kind)  I will change to Toyo 888R

However I would like to see what the car performs like on proper slicks and have a go at some proper lap times in the All Comers series

I can see the progress of your car in next couple of years clive, you will have gotten more grip and then more suspension, then eventually maybe just maybe you will go “ I need more rotors”

Lol
