Real shame about the drive by noise limit curtailingthe shake down. :banghead: You don't need me to tell you that most of the learning curve is done under race conditions and on the day, but knowing you you will have it done by the end of qualifying. :notworthy: Best of Luck. :13:

Funny old day, as you know, I managed to stick it on pole with a 56.1 in front of the Subaru and after qualifying I was very happy with no issues and a car I felt I could get round faster with a little more  track time and dip into 55's at least.

All the aero working well even in slower corners with excellent balance and tyre pressures 100% the same on every corner as soon as I came off track :great:

I forgot that pole at Brands means you are facing uphill with 2nd on the grid a much flatter place to start so I knew the 4WD Subaru would lead away and the MR2's with the engines over the wheels would also find much more grip than the RX-8, and I was right !

The promoter warned that the MR2's were nuts and being 3 seconds quicker than the fastest one, try and give them some room--------------however I thought that I would be ok overtaking in a straight line, WRONG ???

Yes I got swamped as expected off the line and half way up to  Druids I had a huge gap all the way up the inside that is until an MR2 decided to literally spear across the track to get the inside line maybe stupidly to block me.

I was shown a video and he veers over so  abruptly  the back of the car actually comes around, with my speed so much greater up the hill I had the choice of  a car spearing me in the side or the grass !!!!!!!!!!!

Little did I know that two wheels on the grass is something akin to bouncing across the top of the Himalayas-------result was the splitter digging in and destroying itself in F1 fashion with lots and lots of  damage as it passed under the car.

The whole nose cone has gone, rad has a hole, Exhaust pulled off, sump smashed in, front suspension out of line, plus all the rear diffuses torn off .

Car pictured below in the Garage last night and boy O boy it doesn't look like that now!

As bad as all this sounds, having seen the video I would say that had I not taken the decision to stick two wheels on the grass to give the idiot room he probably would have taken us both into the barriers. :angryfire:

Onward's and upwards hopefully with lots of weeks till my next outing at Donnington  I can replicate all the parts that got smashed off to get the car back where it was this morning.

OK, I am now faced with a huge amount of work (and much money) to get the car back to where it was this morning, but at least the car is now finding some speed with the gearing and aero all finding the car some speed.

Not saying the doesn't need more developing but from 7 seconds slower that the Subaru that is dominating the season to 1.8 seconds slower at Coombe to being a little faster than him today, also with 6 of the 10 laps of qualifying in the 56 second bracket with traffic on every lap, I know the car would have found an easy 55 seconds in the race with some clear air   ;)
All the best Clive

Oh my goodness! Do the race officials hand out penalties and punishment for such idiotic driving? If that had happened too me that persons MR.2 would have had an "accident" through the night along with the driver having a severe "drinking accident" through the night also

Flippin' heck Clive, just when you get the car to a point of success, you get mashed by an idiot  :angry5:

At least you have reference photo's to refer to. But you have my sympathy having to shell out more cash when its not your fault.

Keep smiling  :13:

Had a look at Brands 2016 Nippon and a your laps time in qualify would have put you right up there and if you got in 55 as you reckon then right at the front.
So what im trying to say is despite this setback your now making fantastic progress this year up 6 secs a lap from last year so well done....you really know how to put us through it.
Keep it up!
