That looks and sounds awesome. Really happy that your finally getting this working how you want it.

Clive really pleased your hard work looks like it is finally about to pay off.  Wish you luck for events next year.

Really clad that you got some good laps finally. :) And car goes really well, looks like it is fast and seems like it is very neutral to drive.  Also, looks like that you can drive too, dont worry about the tongue ;)

What kind of boost you use now? And how much that car weights? But that air to fuel ration confuses me... :)
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Thanks Dave, and Jarno.

Only on 13psi boost, just as as precaution I will send info up to Pip but to me it looks rich 99.9 % of the time.  Best place to look at AFR's is on the straight where you are pulling under load.

If you want to see really weird AFR's, look at Snetterton from a couple of years ago on the video which follows the outside one (not the in-car from Brands) You can't even read the AFR's.

And yes your right, real easy to drive, like I said damp track, old tyres plus a slow old git driving and it stayed on the black stuff all day, so yes I have a very neutral car.

No idea how much it weighs--------------------its all steel so, a lot   :(
All the best Clive

re japi

Oh, I thought that it had more boost :) Yes, I watched that vid few times now. Under load it seems quite good. But what confused me was that it goes very lean when you go of the throttle...

Old git? :D Nah, I like your style, looks good to me :)

So I quess if car is so heavy, suspension and geometry really works...?

very pleased for you Clive that you had such a positive day at Brands

jinx

Nice to see Christine behaving herself / being kind to you - for once.  If she ever learns to self-repair in the garage she'll have really earned the name but she did at least show an impressive turn of speed and was wonderfully quiet too...in the afternoon.

Given my log-in I'll obviously steer clear of optimistic predictions for the 2017 season.  ???
If you have not already, check out the 750MC website for alternative outlets for her new-found sense of equilibrium.   :D

Nice to see your getting there, the car looked a lot more balanced in the youtube clip, its just a shame i didn't get to brands to see it myself. i can't wait to see how you get  on next year.

Well after three years with my head in my hands like the picture I left Snetterton very happy yesterday  8),

Indeed not only myself but also Paul (Bucko) RX-7 FD Phil (Puka) RX-7 FD and Jim (Lennycarlof) with his Time Attack FC all left the track happy yesterday----------Four  happy Rotary Race cars all happy   at the end of the day, excellent :wee_hee:.

Very damp till later in the afternoon with lots of people attacking the scenery ( blimey if red flags were money we would all be rich)

Really pleased I did this track day as there were two issues that would have showed up and ruined my race in 4 weeks time.

First of all, I had just put a new set of Yokahama AO48's on and as soon as I went out and his 100mph the whole car was shaking so violently it was  physically shaking me around in the seat!

Turns out the rears are out of balance in a big, which I will kindly tell the company who fitted them tomorrow, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Next up I had modified my inter-cooler piping and one pipe had decided to pull off, again it would have ruined a race  :(!

Interestingly I decided after someone made a comment at Brands that I would test my inter-cooler by running two boost identical gauges, one on each side of the inter-cooler and happily found the in and the out read identically meaning no pressure drop  8) , I always thought that the Apexi worked well and now I know they do :)

With the vibration found and a dry track in the afternoon I was confined to running my wet tyres on the back which was a handful getting the car off the corners, however I still left the track confident that the car "seems" to have good pace and finally after four years I am getting happy, but being realistic, you never really know what you have till your actually racing  ;)

Special thanks to Carl Hayward who has come on board to assist running the car this year who will use his many years of fielding Rotary's on circuits which includes one Rotary which solidly finished the Dubai 24 hour race and already yesterday his input was of good use.

Roll on the 25th  March at Snetterton when all three Rotarys enter the Nippon Challenge in the Super GT Class against a 40 car field of all sorts of Japanese Race cars, hopefully some of you will come and watch three Rotarys race that have all endured painful journeys to get this far.

Glad that you had a fun and productive day.

I would be cautious on deriving a small or zero pressure drop from the different readings on two gauges. The individual accuracy, calibration and tolerances of both gauges have a very large bearing on the derived result.
