Oh dear :( what do you think caused it?

What's the spec plans for the new motor??

clive

Every trace on the internet I see leads to detonation, however this may have happened a long time ago as due to all the wiring etc etc issues we had again and again with the poor engine putting up with it seemingly, so it could be this casting was weakened a long way back and then with the oil pressure up behind it it had enough.

I do know 100% it was not due to over boosting, because tonight I have watched the video carefully and the needle was at a solid 15 lbs where it should have been when the oil appeared and in all previous videos of the day (I have every lap)

Not sure on the new spec but one things for sure is that the new engine will get 12mm Goopy oversize tension bolts.

What did you do with the fuel system? Have you used the standard pumps to fill a swirl pot? And then a 044 too the engine? Using a FPR and a return line back to the swirl pot? As the rx8 has a return less fuel system?

There's pictures of the system back on page 38 http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=75841.510

Fuel system as follows,

Walbro 255 as the lift pump, swirl pot, then Bosch 044, separate 12V feeds,  1.1 rising rate fuel pressure regulator then a return pipe dumping straight back into the top of the fuel pot on the tank.

How much did the colt in cage cost you Clive?

It was around a thousand by the time it was delivered and fitted perfectly,

Deliberatly  went for a Safety Devices bolt in due to having no electric in me lock up where it was built plus it would let me get up n running fairly quick if it gets squashed

Next weekend I should have an active update of what is going on with the race car and exciting news about the forthcoming season for our Rotary world

re japi

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

I thought about 1,000 all in as I think I found them online. Did you go for the double door bars option? As that adds £250 onto the standard £700 for the bolt in cage?

The bolt in cage meets the race requirements then there's no need to go for the expense of a weld in cage as they are 1500 minimum plus extra time to send it off and get it installed/welded in.

However if you decided you want to get a weld in cage I will have your bolt in one;):)

What engine plates did carl use for your engine?

Just wondering as if it was a centre mounting plate then I would be interested in seeing the engine mounts you used/fabricated

I thought it time for an update about the new season.

Sadly we lost the engine last December at Brands, thanks go to Carl for last season’s sponsorship engine that let me initially develop the car.(the loss of the engine was nothing to do with the engine itself) .

Based on info gained last year, for this season we start with a new engine where not one part has been retained from last year including even a completely different clutch using Exedy’s latest version light flywheel.

Now running a monster primary and secondary ported, Goopy Apex sealed engine, put together by myself with Kerim of Powergains who will continue to sponsor the car through the 2015 season.

Over the weekend 200 miles was put on the car with no issues and it be interesting to see the way this engine produces power after Jaydee casts his wand over it.

Even started getting some of the more refined jobs carried out like an “in your face” oil gauge and “idot” lamp, next up will be a new under tray donated by Aston and the addition of a full size front splitter.

This season will become of much more interest to the Rotary community with Phil Collard and Paul Buckmaster both now registered in the Super GT class which means we will all run head to head together with our different interpretations of Rotary.

This year I hope to attend all the rounds but Brands as Japfest clashes and I need to be there with MRC.
