Quote from: shaunwil;880999Balls, was it something inside the engine or a blown pipe ?

Shaun

No idea as yet Shaun, no blown pipes , oil level fine, still has compression, nothing got hot etc ,

Ahh crap, sorry to hear that Clive.

Hopyfully there is no damage in engine

Blimey, maybe the chain has broken to the oil pump in the front cover. Strange though, very strange.

Can you crank it over without the ignition switched on and stick the pipe off the turbo in to a bottle to check for pressure.

Faulty gauge sounds more plausible than something going wrong inside the engine.

Hopefully just a faulty sender or similar. You must be due some good luck soon.

Committed now, engines ready to lift out

I will start by dropping the oil out tomorrow to see if there is any debris and as I am this far I am going to do a strip and check anyway

Just checked on tsl-timing.com and found the results,

Personally I felt I was still crawling around so it\'s a little refreshing to see I would have been 11th on the grid out of 36 cars, but at 6 seconds away from the two dominant cars there\'s a way to go yet

Latest update. The car ran very well at Donington yesterday (Japfest 2). Here\'s some video form Clive\'s onboard camera....:mmmm

Once running, use the gearwheel (bottom right) to select 1080p for best viewing quality.....

Nice video. Marshal was a complete numpty letting you out into all the traffic. Thought they where there to actually spot a good place to get you out on track.

Did you pull away from the GTR ? Very impressive !

Finally I have been able to drive the car somewhere near "properly":) and the good part is I know I have soooo much more to come from the car now the chassis is starting to work properly :chat

As you will see the car has changed from the last post, with the most noticeable thing being the rear wing that has now totally transformed the car with NO wheel spin and no stepping out but more importantly its giving proper down-force that\'s not only getting me into corners with more and confidence but also getting grip off of them as well, thanks go to my old mate Steve Phillips for working his socks off last week to build it in time.

I know it works because for the first time I came back with virtually brake dust free wheels, which means I am using a lot less brake to get the car into corners :cool

It will now come off for a few more mods and paint before the next outing :D

Next up was the diff, went back to a 4.4 but now know I will need to build up a 4.3 to get the rev range where I want it to be and this may well be good for most tracks with this gearing :3gears-rh.

Still feel its probably only around 300ish brake at the moment but I\'m sure with the enormous dedication Jaydee and Powergains have for the project to get this car running at the sharp end I now know that by the next outing we will have some real power going on under the bonnet :Thumbs-up

Not sure yet how much time we found over the last visit to Donnington but we need to find 5 or 6 seconds but I am sure this is now do-able with some more power, shock absorber / suspension tuning  and time behind the wheel we will get there------------time will tell
All the best Clive

Thankfully, unlike other aspects of the safety briefing, we were clearly told to use mirrors on entry to the circuit and it was perfectly acceptable to stop in the "triangle" if cars were preventing safe entry. Nasty place for a track entry though, right on braking point on fast approach to corner after a long, downhill straight!

Luckily, the inaccurate parts of the safety briefing (about static noise testing and signing up for tuition) were not safety related.
