Thanks for the reply.
Long story short. Car will be sent around the world and driven on the road including this country. So some/most factory systems are required for certain countries laws.

Obviously I am not sure of your workshop facilities modifying capabilities, but you are going to have to go much further that I did if you want no dash warning lights.

Have a look back through this thread and you will see the amount of error codes that were thrown by the ECU.

Contact me if you wish  when the car is well underway and finished mechanically and I will see what I can do to help.

If this project starts it may be an idea to start a seperate thread so people can help.

Doing a lot of rewiring ATM as the ECU was still interfering with voltages, so now going down the route of splitting anything that has a significant amperage draw away from the ECU by giving completely separate stand alone feeds

Should have been at Rockingham this weekend, now animism for Castle Combe the week before Japfest

Jon, should have your pump pot tomorrow ,

Clive, just out of interest what were you revving your 50amp alternator to?
Reason I\'m asking is we\'re just mounting our 50amp alternator and running it off the same belt as the dry sump pump which isn\'t straight forward as the the alternator runs at double engine speed and scavenge pump runs at half speed.I didn\'t realise that alternators need to run as fast as they do until we researched it which got me thinking about the problem you had with the alternator not providing enough power.
Cheers Martin

Hi Martin

Sorry No idea what RPM  the alternator was turning at but if you look back through this thread you will see that the unit was converted to produce 100amps

My problems stemmed from piggy backing off the stock ECU to keep the car legal for the Nippon series which means you should not encounter these sort of problems running stand alone systems.

Hi Clive, yep I realised you managed to get a 100amp version of the 50amp alternator to overcome your problem but I wondered if you\'d done what we nearly did which was not realise these alternators need to spin at over 17,000rpm at max engine revs to work properly and only start making power at 3500rpm.
Why do you need to run the stock ECU to run in the Nippon? I don\'t think you\'ll find any car running in SGT with a stock ECU, I ran a Simtek on my Scoob. Cheers Martin

Hi Martin,

RPM was not the issue as I had the alternator run up on Brises alternator test rig to check its out put before deciding the custom alternator was a better way forward.

To answer the ECU question, if  you are still getting the news letters you will have seen that no after market traction control or stability  systems are allowed unless fitted as stock in the rules.

Steve Vince reiterated he wanted cars using these aftermarket systems disabled.

Mine will be fine as we are just using the Stock ECU to enable said systems.

BTW people, car is now almost rewired and I have said we need the car up n running again on Friday this week as I am now booked in for the 5th May event at Castle Coombe

Wont get another test in so I will just have to wait and see what I have on the day, be it good or bad, bearing in mind I have yet to dive the car in any sort of anger :Hammer.

I hope all goes well between now and the Castle Combe race and that you get some people to come along for support. I\'d really love to be down there to see the event, whatever the outcome! Gutted though that I\'ll be on a train on the way back from my nephew\'s wedding in London :(

If people do go, plenty of pics please :Thumbs-up

Thanks Jon, whilst we had the car up n running again today with just a little more work to do , I\'m just going to be happy to be able to get to the race next Monday let alone be competitive

Just a little more wiring tidying to do, however even with this done I can\'t see that I will have time to make the Friday and the Monday and then the following Saturday for Japfest
