Clive would this be a little too extreme for weight saving

Excellent picture, one way of keeping cool I supose :Giggle

Phil, the puzzling thing is if Rod had a hand in the regs, last time I saw him he said "why not come and race with us" !

I wonder if news of your intentions scared em :3gears-rh

Why are the governing bodies so against rotaries? Is it because of the ability of making more power aka porting without increasing anything such as the capacity of the engine?

Will66

I reckon its because properly tuned race rotaries are a relatively cheap reliable horsepower at a fraction of the cost of a comparatively powerful piston motor.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

The Rotary "fear" goes back a long way.

In the seventy\'s Production saloons very nearly became Formula RX-3

The RX-3 was able to enter in the under 1300cc class and yet go for overall wins against the likes of 3,000 Ford Capri\'s !

The way I understand it, this power per cc led to the FIA bringing in an equivalency formula doubling the cc of the Rotary.

As far as I know the only other time this type of "fear" ever happen was when the Sierra Cosworth was king of Production saloons and the early Skyline came out, cleaned up in Australia so it promptly got banned over here before the first one ever even hit our shores.

By limiting cars to certain engines mean everyone ends up driving the same cars. Look at the time attack series, most go for an Evo, scooby or skyline and it becomes extremely boring to watch the same cars to around in circles. (Uh oh isn\'t f1 like this :()

Lets hope they don\'t ban rotaries in your series Clive before you\'ve built it :(

I can see why people take an FD and drop a v8 in it to compete in racing series as you have the handling and an engine they can\'t complain about. You can even limit the power of a v8 by choking it but still keep the torqu the same.

Will66

Time Attack\'s ought to change now their allowing the Pro cars to run on slicks.  It should mean that RWD is in with a shout at big power levels.

Sadly Rod has no Rotary affiliation :o, yes he used to race a heavily modded Gen I  in Thundersaloons but it was Cosworth powered, :Hammer

As far as I know even going back to the early seventy\'s when he raced a Prod Saloon Capri, his racers have always been Ford powered.

I asked Rod a few years back if he knew where the Gen one was and he had no idea, however I had a search around and up it popped!
