Hi,

i´ve an 94 RX7 FD3S 13b. It´s not running right at the moment. Bought it from a member of here in october and it was running fine when i was driving back to germany. after the import it was sitting in the garage till last week. i tried the engine and it´s running really rough with a lot of smoke (unburned fuel). Sound´s that its running on only 1 rotor. after trying a few times it now stalls and the plugs are wet. i reset the pfc but same problem. i´ve checked the idle speed control and the throttle sensor. Engine was rebuild 6500 miles ago

The apexi shows at sensor check 4,99V at:
Pim
Vta1
Vta2
Vmop
Wtrt
Airt
Fuel

here is the link:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJpYLghEydI&sns=em

its an single turbo with these specs:

Large street port
Hks t04 single turbo
Wastegate
Hks evc
Apexi power fc with commander
Fmic
Walbro fuel pump

HaywardRotary

Maybe the map sensor pipe has come off?
If not then the engine might be had it but I think not, more like an air leak.I think the engine sounds like it is intact still.
Walbro pumps should be taken off and a stock one put on which are much better.

We warranty our rebuilt engines for Detonation, track day\'s and RWYB and NOW for 30 months which is two and half years or 30,000 miles
We also build all types of race or road engines.
We build race and track cars too.
Any kind of porting undertaken.
Single turbo conversions.

Sorry forgot, it checked the pipes from the map sensor and they r good, but didnt checked the sensor itself! I watched some vids with a broken seal and that complete diffrent to my engine sounds. Still have the problem that they r no rotary companies or mechanics are in germany. I will also test the injectors (seal) and the coils. Maybe some of that is faulty.

What must be done by converting it to a single turbo?cause i have. Lot if nipples at the intake without hoses.but i drove it to germany without a problem without that pipes!

Pfc faulty?. Can i use a stock ecu with my specs?.

Check your exhaust manifold and it\'s gaskets! Possible that you have done one or the other. Normally, craked/unsealed manifold causes sound like that. I know this sound of your car!!!

So when you do a sensor check are all the above readings 4.99v

Listen for an exhaust blow mate might just be running rich, try disconnecting the O2 sensor or turning it off if it\'s not already then start it and see if it clears, could just be knackered plugs if they\'ve been sitting in fuel or damp

You have an earth fault or the Apexi is faulty. Check the earth behind the PFC and also the earths going into it.
It could also be the sensor return wire as most if not all of those sensors share a return to the PFC. Can\'t check which wire as I\'m not near a PC.

When it its running it only reva up till 1500rpm max. And then it goes down to 200-400rpm and the exhaust give a blow. Like a.tapos said! The car must be running in the next 10 days, cause the drift season is starting and i cant cancel the events cause of my sponsors.
 Where is theo2 sensor??

davehg

o2 sensor should be bolted into the top of the down pipe just behind the turbo and has one black wire coming from it.

it sounds like its either an earth fault as mentioned above or a sticky injector, take the plugs out, turn it over with the EGI relay out of the box bolted to the battery and turn the car over with your foot on the floor to clean the fuel out of the housings. Then put the EGI fuse in and turn on the ingnition only for a minute. Take the relay back out and turn over the car. if lots of fuel vapour comes out you have a faulty injector.

I would also get new plugs for when you fix the fault as at least one will probably fail with fuel over it.

Hope this helps.
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

Just seen your apexi readings, like philly says check the earth next to the ecu but this does sound a bit like a case of the water in ecu problem, have you got a stock ecu to test?

Nope, can i use a standard ecu with the specs above? Water inside the apexi ecu is impossible, cause it was sitting in the garage since october!

I had a similar problem this week when i changed leads, panicked thinking id got them all crossed up but was actually fouled up plugs and coincidental timing.  Shiny new plugs and deflood procedure and now have a happy wee car with a lovely smooth idle.
