Finally picked up my single FD on Friday, after having it delivered to my sister\'s 4 weeks ago.
Mental car. Truly insane. I\'ve been grinning like the Cheshire Cat all weekend. Behaved itself perfectly as well. Water temp never went above 87°C, starts first time every time hot or cold, and I even managed an average of 27 mpg on the run back from London to Edinburgh. That must be some sort of record...?

Couple of questions though.
It is ridiculously, stupendously loud, even worse on full boost. Decat, straight through exhaust with HKS Super Dragger back box, plus an external wastegate. What\'s the best way of me quietening it down a bit? was thinking of a silenced midpipe. I take it that any and all exhaust system changes really need the car to be remapped...?

Next, the car was mapped at WGT a few weeks ago, but due to a stuck wastegate and naff FPR it wasn\'t mapped as perfect as it could be. Wastegate is sorted, and I\'m hunting for a decent FPR to fit before booking it in at WGT to get done properly. What pressure do I need to set the FPR at so I don\'t kill it on the drive down?

Also, I\'ve noticed a ticking noise somewhere in the manifold/turbo/downpipe area. Reasonably loud, and seems to increase in speed (but not volume) as the rpm increases. Sounds like my old car did when it had a blown exhaust gasket. Is this likely to be the same, or does this indicate other things?

Cheers,
Andy

Standard fuel pressure is 38psi with the vacuum hose off, sounds like you have a gasket away.
There was a chap on here or FDUK wanting to swap a racing beat cat back for something louder, that would be ideal for you.

Cheers fella. Just need to get accepted as a member over there and I\'ll have a word with him.

Also, picked up the popups from Mir this weekend. You still about someone to give me a hand fitting them?

Some Single turbos do have the ticking noise, mine has the same. Its the sound of the exhaust pulse as it exits the engine. I don\'t have any leaks but it is quite loud without any sound proofing (or interior).

These cars are mental, they just want to be driven :D

On boost a screamer pipe is stupidly loud, may be worth having it plumbed back in to the system too to help get the volume down. Pip does make some very nice big bore mid pipe silencers.

No probs about the pop ups, if you want me to get contact details from the guy so you can get in touch gives a shout.
Its a single exit RB which are known to be quiet and flow well, G20well who is local to us has one but unfortunately his car isn\'t running just now so you can\'t have a listen.
