My thanks too to the organisers for another great trackday:Thumbs-up

What a great turnout of rotaries too :)  Fantastic to see such a great crowd of familiar and new faces too, which made it a very enjoyable social day out too. For anyone reading this thread and is thinking of doing trackdays just come along to watch, chat and take some passenger rides. The experience will enable you to decide if you want to give it a try in your own car. You don\'t have to push 10/10, just the pace at which you feel comfortable.

Highlight for me was a passenger ride with DreRX8 driving behind Clive and sticking to the back of him like glue. However, Clive, to be fair, was driving on some tyres that he\'d never driven on before and weren\'t as grippy as his usual ones, losing him well over 5 seconds a lap. I was massively impressed with Dre\'s driving on with the R888\'s on, the grip was awesome, and he was exploiting every bit of it :god

Lowlight of the day, seeing the damage to bigpete\'s car  - glad to hear you got home OK though and I hope you can get it sorted out soon. That\'s one lovely car so I do hope it will soon be back as good as new .

I had a slightly frustating day, first with a misfire (but no CEL??) on my first "full-on" run. Came back in, dropped off passenger wheel to check plug leads and found one that seemed to have become slightly unseated. Many thanks to Hypo, Harrizone and others for help/support whilst I dealt with the issue (that\'s why this club is so great). Back out again and the misfire had been resolved  Then, despite having changed the gearbox oil the day before, I was getting a severe crunch on the three sections of the track that I needed to change up from 3rd to 4th on the beep. Seemed like a synchro problem. To get round it, I was having to count "1-2" before engaging 4th and releasing the clutch. I\'ll get the oil changed for another brand and "name and shame" the brand I used if it solves my issue. The probelm is not present unless I\'m accelerating hard and take it to the beep in 3rd and want to keep accelerating in 4th - not something I\'ll (legally) do on the road!

I\'ll get some video posted up over the weekend, but I\'ve had a look and there is nothing spectacular on laptimes, just a solid set of 2m33\'s.

Here you go  - video of a few laps from my keyfob camera mounted near the passenger side foglamp. To get the best qaulity picture click on the gearwheel, bottom right, and select 1080p HD, if you have a decent broadband service!

Note me having a little battle with Jim in his black RX-7 TurboII FC. He leaves me for dead on the straights, but I manage to catch him on a slingshot out of a fast corner. Not sure if I would have got past if the 2CV diden\'t help though! Then there is a brief glimpse of Grant\'s red RX-7 just as he\'s pulling into the pits. Finally, you get a view of the Carl Hayward black bridgeported RX-8 passing me down the main straight and disappearing into the distance :o - I want one  :mmmm:mmmm

Just to add my thanks to the organisers and everyone who turned up and provided great banter and support throughout the day.

Big thanks to Steve Garbutt, who suddenly appeared under the RX as I investigated an Oil leak late in the day (the leak was from the gearbox!!). Hopefully a full investigation will not lead to any more than some fastners requiring tightening.

Looking forward to the next track day....hint hint

Hi guys, not posted on here for a while but after a day like that it\'d be rude not too,

First off I\'d like to thank carl Hayward for once again letting me loose in his rx8, I really enjoyed the whole day and met some really nice genuine people.

The car performed amazingly and I believe it showed to lots out there that you don\'t have to spend a fortune to make a fast and well handling rx8

Was a good afternoon and evening, the weather was certainly hot and not surprisingly saw a few people taking it easier. You might have seen me out on the track with a massive lens :)

The settings on MRC seem to resize the pic making it seem a bit blurry, if you look on Flickr they arent like that. Must be some compression somewhere.

First off a big thanks to both Robbie and MOT for orgainising the day it was great.
I had a great time and loved the Bomb Hole and out on to Coram, the hairpins were a bit of a nightmare especially Montreal where I just didn\'t have the grip, I also kept getting Hamilton wrong and not using all the track on the exit.  Must also add a thanks to Aston for coming out with me and giving me some tips and as i thought without any cones to show turn in points(both the other two track days i\'ve done there have been both braking and turn in cones) I was turning in to early and also not using all the track in places.

In two of my sessions I was chasing down Steve Garbutt in his stripped out RX8 the first time he had a set of track tyres on and he had more grip in the corners and coming out of them but I was able to close heavily under braking due in part to my Racing Brakes and new XT960 pads and got past him, in the second time when he was back on standard road tyres I was able to catch him quicker and pass him and leave him behind more than in the first session.
I also found towards the end of end of my sessions I could really feel the tyres losing grip which was a real shame as it was then that I started to get things better in the corners. I know what I want for Christmas and that\'s some track tyres.
I did the first two session of the day on some ET500 pads(which were worn out after three sessions at Japfest about 1k road miles and the two sessuons at Snetts) and then changed over to the XT960 which gave more initial bite and also look as if they\'ll last longer.

It was sad to see Pete go off and I hope you get your Rex back on the road soon.

As the others have said if you haven\'t been to a track day get yourself along to one as there great even if you\'re not driving you can have passenger rides and have a good time as people are only out on track for at most a 1/3 of the time so penalty of time to have a chat with people.

Now to get my name down for Brands Hatch and hope there\'s one before then.

As everyone else has posted, it was a fantastic day, big thanx to all the organised and also everyone who attended.
Only my second trackday and i struggled to remember the circuit and as id lightened the car out it was riding 30mm higher than stock so was unnervingly wobbly out of bends haha, so had to back off a lot for a number of the corners as i didnt know what was coming.
Managed to have a nice dual with RX8Head for a few laps when i managed to test some pre production sticky tyres but his knowledge of the track and far better brakes he eventually bunted me down and slowly left me, next session out and i was back on some old road tyres and RX8Head very quickly caught me up hunted me down and left me for dead.
I cant believe how fast the 2cv was in the corners :S
Cant wait for the next, but ill have to invest in some lowering springs and a set of stickys, oh ill have to get a memory to remember the corners as well haha
