Sean

I\'m attending a rolling road session next week with the MR2 club (long story), I\'m just wondering what figures to expect?

I\'ve a 1990 TurboII With a centre de-cat powerflow exhaust, cheapo motorsport-dumpvalve, and a K&N air filter replacement.

I fear that I may have a boost problem too. The stock boost gauge shows that the boost goes just over O, and I checked it with Grinders TIM gauge which showed 0.6bar for one second before it went back down to 0.4bar.

This would mean that I have a boost problem, but if this is the case, why can I still fight off a MR2 turbo (260bhp) and an Evo (358bhp)!

Gman

Any spaces left for the session?

Gman

Oh, just seen where you are in the country, might be a bit far if there was any space.

I would say dont trust the stock guage 100 % if you can get hold of aftermarket one install that.  If your car is still performing and giving you that big kick in the teeth when you hit the loud pedal then it could just be the boost guage is shagged.

grinder

with that set up i would expect something like 210bhp ( not sure if thats at the fly or the wheels ) - but the car should be about 202 as standard and with the main cat gone and the filter - you should make another 8 bhp

let us all know the results

stu

( and you have PM )

not that i know very much much with regards to rolling road i would be surprised if it 210bhp at the wheels personally stu might be at the fly.Just my 2 pence worth
You only get one life live it

grinder

210 at the wheels would be impressive to say the least

i think it would be at the fly which should give you about 180 RWHP

which isnt that bad really - better than 3rd gen if i read correctly :) http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7463

Pip did tell me the formulea for determining the fly from the rear wheel and vice versa, but again I was distracted by the black FD with a half built four rotor outside his office!!!!

I\'m worried because as I said, the TIM boost gauge said that I was holding only 0.4bar

antnicuk

that would carls then, tell him to a shifty on, i\'m dying to see this thing go, so lord knows what carls going through!  If he doesnt hurry up, i will finish it for him!
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Sean

Looks like it\'s gonna shift!!!

grinder

4 rotor - ekkkk thats big and scary

would that be a  N/A or a turbo ???

sean can you PM me that 1000 word essay again ... pretty please - i have cleared my mail box out now ( only got about 240 left to sort thru :) )

Sean

I can\'t remember what I wrote now!!!
I\'ve benn driving for the last 10 hours!!!!

grinder

thats no good matey !

i think it would have been about your new K&N filter :)

ah whilst on the subject - when you had the boost gauge in the car - when running round with no boost ( ie slowly ) - what did it show on the gauge - mine was reading about -0.5 bar

did yours do the same ? - and i think i was only hitting about 0.4 bar aswell which is 5.8015 PSI

not sure if thats right or wrong ???
