So I\'ve not even driven my new car yet cos I\'ve been out of the country. Instead, it\'s been sitting at my sisters house, and I think she\'s driving it quite a lot. Just phones me to say that it wouldn\'t start. All electrics on, lights on dash, but just a whining nose coming from the engine bay. Eventually it started and off she went without a care in the world.

Is she ruining my engine before I even get to drive the thing, or does it just sound like a case of knackered starter motor?

The severity of the Chinese Burn she gets for all this will be judged on the responses to the above question.

Cheers in advance

Where does she drive the car? Is it always up to temperature before driving off and fully up to temp before accelerating etc?

She claims it\'s warned up for 15 minutes before any kind of hoonage, super unleaded only, red lined at least once per outing, 5 minute turbo timer, etc.

It\'s just the whole "it wasn\'t working and now it is, so f**k it" attitude. I\'m acutely aware that if it breaks, the only thing my family will give me is grief for buying such a fragile car and I\'ll be left with whatever repair bill.

themightyo

Oh, and she seems to be using it to pick the kid up from school, driving to work etc.

I\'ve already asked the bro-in-law to go down and pick it up for me, but that still gives her til Wednesday next week to ruin it...

Just sounds like starter is sticking in,mine does it sometimes if I dont use it for a while,or battery voltage drops

It could also be a tired battery if its not getting a full charge on each of the runs etc, just remember that the car isn\'t exactly new anymore and things do wear/get stuck

themightyo

That\'s sounding ok then. New battery/starter I can cope with.

As Andy said, sounds like a sticky starter motor, they are very easy to take out.
If its knacked I have a spare you can use till you get a replacement.

Aye right! Just found out there\'s a mini mightyo heading our way. It\'s only cos I\'ve got the rear "seats" that I got away with buying it in the first place. Don\'t think I could squeeze a badass turbo past her at the moment...

m1tch

I have renamed the rear \'seats\' as \'people scoops\' although I have sat in the back of my FC a few times, not actually too bad

Cheers Phil. Very kind of you. I\'ll see what like when I finally get it home.

Just out of interest, do you own the black one I\'ve seen down in Portobello?

philiwily

Yep, that\'s mine but I\'ve moved a 1/2 mile. Are you from that end yourself?
