I just had a quick flick through that, he has gone from using the s5 plates to using the Cosmo plates. There is a picture where they are stood next to each other and the Cosmo ports are huge as standard!!!

35psi is amazing, I wonder how much his ignition setup was??

Good old thread. If you flick through you can see our own Blitzboy posted on it so it\'s not new news. Porting gets more power for less boost but there are other factors to take in to consideration depending on what you are going to use your car for.

im just reading through the thread, using q16 vpracing fuels. a few people are claiming an increase in HP by 50 HP by just switching to this fuel.

inlet temps were 50-60* which in my opinion is quite high, but thats what you get when you make the turbo produce the HP.

Will66

I think those temps are in ºF not ºC so that\'s 10 to 15 ºC.  Which is why he\'s happy with it.

I don\'t think it is, he\'s not using WI so his inlet temps are going to be quite high. That turbo is pumping a lot of air, more air more friction more heat.

Will66

The heat\'s due to air pressure, compress something and it gets hotter, but wouldn\'t his air-to-water intercooler be an effective way of keeping his intake temperature low.

I was just thinking that someone from Texas wouldn\'t be someone I\'d think would be using metric figures.

Plus ambients in Texas are going to be hot in the summer months !

I think it\'s degrees C

Yes the charge cooler will keep the temps down but running that much boost is going to cause heat. At 1bar boost on twins I was getting peaks of 30C inlet temps on an air air cooler

So I\'m with Will on this one.

Fair enough using ice water, something that would quickly turn to just water onthe street. Ok to use it at the track as more ice can be put in.

I will be able to report in air inlet temps using a charge cooler as I am actually putting one in my RX4.

This one to be exact;

Ice water makes a difference. I have been given an idea how to make my system the ability to run water or add Ice at the track.

Will66

Pack the heat exchanger with dry ice.  It subsumes from solid to gas at about -70ºC so it\'s very cool and doesn\'t leave water sloshing about in your engine bay!  You can get it from www.dry-iceuk.co.uk.

Can\'t really get much dry ice down a 25mm ID inlet and outlet.

Easiest way is to run a header tank on the CC rad and pack that with dry ice and let the water run through the dry ice.

PWR actually give a warning with their ice kit cooler that your transmission will break with the increase in mid range power and create earlier spool up on the turbo.
