Sean...

Great pics... I brought a Canon 600D SLR jobby out with me that night. I couldnt get pictures anywhere near like yours. I didnt use the flash which seemed to work better than with (much better). Is there a good base setting you use for night shots like the stunning ones you have taken?

Hi Ta ;)

I used by Canon 60D, EFS 17-85mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM Lens and very little skill! :)

A Tripod is essential, as exposures are too lengthy to hand-hold; some of Aston\'s car are handheld - and breath held(!), with flash.

I used 2-second timer mode to make sure no movement on tripod after hitting the release.

I actually left most in "P"rogram mode, as I couldn\'t be bothered fiddling with Aperture Priority (Av) , Shutter Priority (Tv) or Manual(!) modes!

However, I also resorted to Manual focusing as camera hunts a bit with autofocus and low light. Then I forgot it was in manual focus, but got real lucky with a load of shots still seems focus point is OK!

Most were without flash - built in flash not powerful enough (More £££ required for decent remote flash(es)!).

The midnight Rexes one was a 30-second Shutter Priority.

ISO was on auto - so probably a fair few 3200s in there, for less noisy shots you may need to fix ISO lower (e.g. 800) which will double exposure time for every step-down.

There\'s an excellent book called "Understanding Exposure" (2nd ed.) where I picked most of this up from, and have rather surprised myself at the results! :D
