Front Door Wont Open (FD3S)

Just got out to inspect the car just before take off on her maiden voyage after being sat for about 3 months and i cant seem to open the drivers door, i ca get through the passenger side ok but as im 6ft 3 its hard to drag my lanky self over to the drivers side.. Cannot open the door from the inside either... any ideas? Worked fine before..

can you feel the exterior mechanism engaging / trying to work / do its job?

Yeh the door handle is engaging but is sticking when you open it and doesnt quicly release like the p/s one..im guessing the cable must have come loose from behind..

When you pull the handle, does it appear that the handle wants to open on one side only? if that makes sense lol.

I had this just before xmas, the splines on the inside of the mechanism tend to bend and don\'t engage the latch - only option is a new mechanism unfortunately.

HOWEVER, before that happened I had troble with it not opening from the inside, turned out a 10p coin had slipped down into the handle and wouldn\'t let it engage properly. Take the door apart for a look - 10min job

Yeh exactly it only seems to now want to open from the inside.. we had the door card off today for a closer inspection it seems that its not catching on the front door handle on the outside of the car... any ideas where i can get mechanisms from as this is just a bit embarassing lol..

if its not connecting up by the door handle, it could be your handle has broken at the back, where the rod connects too.

a new one is about 100 squid iirc, best getting a working one off a breaker on here or fduk
