My keyboards gone barmy.

When I press \'m\' I get \'my\'
When I press \'y\' I get \'my\'

Enter is delete - delete is nothing.

Anyone got any idea what I\'ve done to it.

[I\'m using an old keyboard to type this btw]

you shouldnt hammer in nails with it! :Giggle
i was going to suggest restoring your computer to a day before you first had this problem but if simply changing the keyboard sorted your problem logic dictates the keyboard is at fault

Sounds like the scanning is up the creek.  Keyboard has a matrix of wires, so if you are getting multiple hits or incorrectly interpreted hits on the keys, chances are that there is either a short or brake in a wire somewere.

Since most modern keyboards are just a cheap membrane with sprung keys on top, and cost very little it\'s probably not worth repairing - just get a new one.

Some malware or the like can change the settings of this (used to do it years ago to mess with friends or other students in the IT suite) it could be something picked up from the net if its only just happened with you doing nothing (as in changing settings, installing new keyboard etc..)

goto control panel --> regional and language settings --> make sure this is set to English (UK)

Except he plugged another one in and it\'s working ok - so suggests it\'s the hardware that\'s faulty...
