Guys,

Has anyone bought from Bonsai Cars?

Have you participated in one of the Auctions?

Are they a good company to buy from?

Looking at the online auctions and seeing the starting bidding price and then working out their shipping/sva/mot costing it seems to be a lot less than the 8-10k most places are charging for FDs.

Any thoughts?

Sure you can probably save a bit, but a starting price is nothing like an ending price.

I could start my car on ebay at 4k, I wouldnt let it go for that however ;)

I noticed they had a car on ebay, as far as I know they get their cars from newera but could be mistaken, sure someone will know

my mate bought a car from them err........i think august 2003, got the car in september, allwas good at collection and all was dealt with swiftly, 2 days down the line, BOOM, engine rebuild, (car had 40somethingk miles on it). ok its now november2003, 1 week into the joy of rx7 ownership, radiator explodes on him, back down to portsmouth to geff it is then AGAIN, now things seem to be "OK", but even now he has problems with the exhaust system, ECU and a few other little bits and bobs.

some may say its just pot luck if you get a good one, i am not saying bonsai are an unreliable company, but thats what the advice u was asking for, whether if any of us have bought from them! :p

anyone from bonsai reading this, dont flame me for this as the guy asked, and thats what happened,:rollin :rollin :rollin

All there cars semm to have a good bit of mileage on them, and no rebuild.  I was warned away from them, but i cant remember who by.

I got my last FD through bonsai..... I can only comment on there service of buying cars at auction....not the cars they hold in stock.

The service they gave me was second to none....  Kept me updated with the progress and were very helpful.  It\'s like any auction though , you could buy a car that lasts ten years, or then again ten minutes.  Bonsai act as an agent and bid on your behalf, the risk of a dud car is with you.  I was lucky and got a good car.

I bought my first FD off them as well, and I was pleased with the way that they did things :)

Cheers for your advice Guys,

Am trying to consider all aspects at the mo as I plan to buy my FD Jan/feb next year. Mainly because I will have more money saved and got christmas out the way but also because prices tend to be a bit cheaper in the winter months.

Have been out looking at cars at the mo. Its scandalous some of the condition people keep them in and then try and flog them for £9k plus !!!

Aiming really to spend about 6-8k which should hopefully buy me a nice one.

Just trying to find the cheapest possible way of getting a good one at the mo you see!!

Are there ever any meets in the Norfolk area?

Roundabout-Now

My Bro bought an Isuzu through them. He wasn\'t too impressed as he felt that they misrepresented the amount of time it would take to get to the UK from Japan (it did take ages), and when it did turn up they had sent it to Southampton, despite instructions to ship it to Liverpool. Doh!

On the plus side they seem to have guys at the auctions to check the cars out, as I bid on some cars quite some time ago and they will not bid if they find something bad that wasn\'t mentioned on the auction sheet.

Overall they seem quite good at the bidding / checking out the cars in Japan, but a bit poor at the customer contact and admin side of things.

Just a personal point of view.

I got my car from their subsidiary and it was not at all good service.  Waited so long for the car onyl to be told it needed certain items to pass the SVA.  Bear in mind they do give the cars a tanking when they get them off the docks as well when they are passed to SVA Uk next door.  Not a good place to go for me.  If I was to do it again it would be through one of the rotary dealers, much safer and with a warranty.

Although not done any business with them myself, have heard they aren\'t very good from a few people down south.:(
