Hi, I\'ve been looking for an FD for seems like an age and i think i may have found a nice one, but i was wanting to know what the experts (you out there !) think ???

I\'ve viewed (not driven yet) a white FD Type R2 that is for sale and would like to know just how much people think its worth ?

Its got 76,000 km on the clock and has just been rebuilt by WGT (ringing them in the morning), with 11 months engine warrenty. L reg, with really clean exterior and interior. Started first time from cold and ticked over nicely.HKS air filters and some aftermarket samco hoses. No visable signs of body work damage, but is it normal for a R2 to have a efini sticker on the back of the car ?

Its probably worth 10k ish I guess.  The engine rebuild will be a good selling point.

I hate trying to decide what something is worth, especially without seeing it.

Hi Shaun :wave

Best advice is to check out 2 very informative topics here:

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=394

and also here:

http://www.rx7.net.nz/fd-jp-models.html

And also to have a look on both Brian\'s site (rotaryimports.com) and New Era (neweraimports.com) to get a feel for what to expect for your money.

Also, there are a number of people here who could source an FD to a spec you nominate - and you can be guaranteed that it\'ll be a cracker as these guys REALLY know about the 7. Of course the trade-off is you may need to wait a while until the perfect example appears.

Try giving Brian a PM if you\'re interested (his name here is BNA_ELLIS), he\'s amazingly knowledgeable and i\'ve spoke to several guys here who are all delighted with both his service and the car provided.

With regards to the efini designation, i wouldn\'t worry about it - some models (sorry i forget which versions) were labelled Efini RX-7s instead of Mazda RX-7s in Japan. No difference in spec (aside, of course, from the default differences between the 6 versions!) and also it seems a popular lil mod for people to put Efini badges on UK cars etc.

The only cars labelled RII were \'93-\'95...so this would definitely tie-in with an L-reg car. Could well be also during that period (version 2) the Efini labels were introduced.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and good luck in your search!! :)

You can pretty much ignore the logo\'s and decals on an FD.

Mine has a MazdaSpeed decal instead of a Mazda/Rx7 badge, and  an efini badge all by its lonesome.

Thanks for the advice, the main problem is that i still have my fto and i think they may give me a reasonable price for my fto. They are wanting 6750, which to me seems extremely cheap for a car that has just been rebuilt and is in v.nice condition. I offered them 1500 with my fto and they said maybe, but i was wondering if i should bite the bullet and offer them a bit more for it. If its worth a bit more and they don\'t realise i think i\'ll see what was done with the rebuild and offer them a bit more tommorrow.

Cheers

Hi Mate,

if the engine HAS been rebuilt by Pip then its a good one as hes the chap i take my car to!, the price quoted does seems alittle cheap but the best thing to do is ring Pip as you say (01606 48866) and while asking about the engine just enquire as to what pip thought of the car while it was there?

This way an expert has seen the car and might be able to tell you if there is a reason the car is going at that price, as Lee says (jap rx) that car should be around the 10k mark really.

Goodluck, and welcome :wave

as above..........
miles, rebuild, spec.... it all adds up to £

i paid a lot more for my \'93 fd because of the milege (0) and the fact that a good guy built it.

I do get the feeling that they company that is selling it did bite off more than they could chew and they are selling it at cost. Pip said that it is a bit late in going back for its first check after its rebuild and would need to be the first thing to be done. It is in good condition and if i can sell my fto i will be getting it asap.

Very Strange, would have been happy to to all the above !

Hopefully we can get something sorted, may take more than a day because im not including the current stereo, but it would only take a weekend to remove and put the replacement in
