Quote from: m1tch;786685Wheres the IC located?

If you zoom in onto the frst picture I think you can just see it above the lower lip?

Benedunn

is IC short for intercooler? - if it is you can just see it through the bottom vent - basically infront of the radiator! :wiggle

you know im sure the turbo is right underneath that intake filter :3Confused

On the greddy kit, the Intercooler is a straightforward front mount, it\'s directly below the numberplate.  You can see it in the first photo.

That kit will make quite a bit more power with a decat and by putting the air intake in front of the radiators.  The battery on that looks to be blocking the stock cold air feed location and the air filter will be pulling air heated by the expansion tank.  A few detail changes and he\'d see more power quite easily.  What sort of management is he using?

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Ben, the turbo on the greddy kit sits quite close to the manifold under the intake manifold.  It\'s hard to see unless you take the right hand wheel off!  SPR\'s turbo for the RX8 sits where the Battery is but the greddy kit is meant to be the most straightforward to install.

your not kidding - it looks like a bit of a faff and designed by an idiot!

looking at this

ontop ofg all the other stupid mistakes youve already listed the down pipe pass\'s right past the intake - now correct me if im wrong but carnt rotary exhaust gases reach temps as high as 2000*f WOT? carnt be too good for getting that cold air in the through the ports when your runners are glowing red hot :rollin

The downpipe on FDs goes past the LIM too, nothing wrong with some good heat shielding though 

I think it was rushed to the market to satisfy the demand for forced induction for the RX8, like Blitz did with their supercharger kit.  I don\'t know about later ones but early ones had problems with the piggy back fighting with the stock ECU and causing CELs and loss of power, I also seem to remember that you have to block off the tertiary ports on a high power RX8 as the management system couldn\'t cope with opening and closing them.

Quote from: Grant Monkhouse;786645that rx8 may only just have the power of a stock FC guys but it probably has all of them in it, wheres as your FC\'s have lost a lot of the ponies

It is infact 100 BHP more than a totally stock FC and my FC\'s engine was rebuilt around 20k ago and runs 220bhp with only a tame aftermarket exhaust. I do agree the 8 has a much better chassis, but the FC\'s is quite good with a few tweeks! But at leastmine has not lost too many ponies ;)

I\'m sorry i don\'t know much more about the RX-8, i think he said he was  running .7 bar of boost. I am also not positive about the managment, he  did tell me but i forgot. I also thought the battery was in a strange  place, if you putting all that money into a boosted RX-8 you\'d have  thought he\'d at least relocate battery to the boot.

Tis a good point to be made actually - the nature of the rotary engine means it performs better at higher revs, as sealing gets better - meaning top end power loss is no where near the same as with a piston engine.  The problems are all at the low end (idling, cruise, starting) with \'old and tired\' rotaries.

The RX8 isn\'t the easiest of engines to Turbo - due to higher compression rotors and the exhaust port designs - those early Greddy kits used the blue emanage, but the later kits come with the ultimate - I got a lot of good info off some of their tuning sites in the US ;)

An RX8 with the same power as an FC is going to probably out corner and out break and FC with ease - an FD may be a bit more of a challenge - but don\'t write them off - the 8 is a killer on the track :)

I wonder what would happen to a higher mileage rotary engine if water Injection was added? As it would clear any carbon deposits and possibly cause the engine to lose compression?
