Depends what you class as quick, i went from a Nova GSi to an egi and felt a bit dissapointed by the lack of speed. Now i\'ve driven the T2, to me it doesn\'t \'feel\' that fast but then when i look at the speedo i realise it must be because i\'ve been used to driving hot hatches which weigh about as much as a lunch box. Then why you urinate all over something like a Integra Type R - which are spoken of as pretty \'quick\' i finally realise i have a propper car now :Giggle

Ross, It\'ll be a different car altogether now. Glad you\'ve got it sorted. I ended up cutting the bottom half of the heat shield off so I can get access to the actuator arm easily in the future. Plus one of the bolts snapped when I was taking it off!
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Yes.... Frustrated.

After :censored::censored::censored::censored:ing around under the car with the trusty mig and a pair of mole grips for far longer than it should have taken I finally got the arm on and welded. However, next to no extra boost! I reckon the actuator might be shafted after all. The boost guage is only rising to the the 2nd block at best and that\'s not even all the time.

What should the boost guage rise to and what does that equate to in either psi or bar? I may try a spare ebc I have kicking around and see if that can liven up the old girl. I\'m not expecting it to be as quick as my gtr but it just lacks that punch although it revs nice and strong and has a very linear feeling power curve.

Off topic but is anyone else on here around Lincolnshire?

Thanks again chaps

Maybe a knackered actuator. Think I\'d be checking all the hoses for splits first though (if you can get to them to check). If there is a leak on the hoses to the actuator it won\'t be working properly.
The stock boost gauge should read right throughout the range under various conditions. If your only getting minimal movement then there is defo something wrong.

There\'s also a better than average chance the stock gauge has failed.... They do that :/

Do you have an aftermarket one?

unless there is a FCD fitted and you wont see much on the stock gauge ( im sure it stops working when you plug one in )

Mine seems to work perfectly fine? I\'m sure I don\'t have an fcd?

I\'m thinking it is now a buggered guage as I took it for a drive last night and it did feel quite quick and next to no movement on the guage. I can hear the turbo spooking away and chuffing back through the airfilter and the speedo is certainly moving rapidly enough.

I think it was all in my head as I wasn\'t seeing boost on the guage.

There could be a few electrical gremlins with the gauges and warning lights on this car as when I dropped the beast (wife) at work this morning an alarm sounded and a picture of a radiator illuminated in red on the dash. A quick check revealed a full rad and expansion tank and a perfectly healthy temp reading. As soon as I set off it all went out again.

Do I know how to purchase quality vehicles or what!!

Quote from: slammed 66;782597Although not making boost I\'m still loving the car and thinking that even an EGI must be fairly quick. And if naturally aspirated rotaries are quick then a gen 1 might be a future purchase worth considering. Infact I\'m really wanting one now!

Isn\'t that just so true :cheers

Welcome to the club chap - and good on you for saving another Vert.  I rescued one recently without an engine -originally to cut up and patch my rotting shell, but it looks like I shall be moving my goodies over to it instead and finally bringing Rixxy I to a close.

With boost these cars are awesome - and the vert often catches people out because they don\'t know what these things have under the hood.

Good luck with the wastegate \'fix\' ;)

Sounds like you got earthing issues - they can plague the FC :(
