How much would it cost to re-core your current rad with a larger core ?

How low of a grinder price are you looking at ? Will the Stock FD rad fit ? I I have an old stock one if that is any help !

Looking as cheap as possable tbh. It just seems that £250-£300 is the going rate for one. Which I think is a bit steep really. I think the FD one is smaller than the FC one although I\'m not sure. As for recoreing the radiator I don\'t know, I haven\'t looked into it. Think I\'ll just have a measure up and see whats available.

koyo is 340, maby cheaper if u search.

TiddlesRX7

Thats the thing. It ain\'t exactly cheap is it. Don\'t get me wrong its top quality but I am trying to do it on a budget.
Stock radiator is 580x500 so the search begins for one that\'ll fill that gap :)

Did you get any further with this? After becoming slightly obsesive about this SMIC thing i\'ve been looking at rads myself, with the Koyo coming in at around £260+postage cheapest and then this ebay one -> clicky. Reading this though it says the dimensions are 635x430x70 (core size 610x310x50) which is quite different to the 580x500, but it does claim to be a direct bolt on fitment? Could be worth further inquiry or a random punt as its free UK delivery and Buy it now @ £129.99 - if it doesn\'t fit i guess you should be able to send it back with no hassle and get a full refund.

Would be interesting to know what the stock size for the rad on the FD is, possible that these dimensions they give are for the FD and not the FC as the same company offers both rads. A forgiveable mistake i guess, but as i say its worth looking into as its half the price of a koyo rad and would be good to know if it fits okay as i really one want one and if your in a position to test it out (funding wise as i am not yet) would be good for others to know as well. I imagine postage to me over here would not be included in the price either and that wouldn\'t be refunded if it didn\'t fit!

What do you think Tiddles?

Prof

I used a \'Godspeed\' one from the US in the end - someone on the forum here didn\'t rate it much and said it was cheap and Chinese, but it fitted pretty much in the stock location and has so far been fine.  It\'s certainly better made that my previous ASI rad was.

If you can get one cheap (sub £200) then the Koyo - particularly the \'N\' flow ones -  are excellent rads.

Ben, That one won\'t work for us. Well not without some mod work. Firstly there is no filling cap. You\'d have to fit an EGI filler that mounts around the thermostat area (completely different from the TII ones. Then there is the bottom hose. Wrong location again. Looks like the stock FD location iirc. Then there is the width, At 635mm You might just squeeze it in but the chances are you\'d have to move the battery and maybe the PS hoses below. Plus any Chinese ebay advert that says direct bolt on replacement is normally wrong. I bought one last year that was sold as a direct replacement that would eeven allow the stock fan shroud to be used. Needless to say it didn\'t fit. I reported this to the seller got a refund. He is still selling them with the same advert :(

Im ordering some new Koyo Rads from Koyo this week. Mine arent too expensive.

the n-flo is £315+postage so £327 all in, to your door
the standard unit is £283+postage so £295 all in, to your door.

Need to know ASAP though, as Ive just ordered the batch.

TiddlesRX7

Cheers Atomic but at the moment I just can\'t spend that much all at once. I\'d seen your adverts on EBay actually.

Thats ok

I am usually placing an order once a month, so anytime is fine :)

B.Martin

I found you on eBay as well, are the Koyo rads not £236 for the FC? :3Confused

AtomicRex

Im probably going to get slated for this.....but if you look in the top right hand corner of the advert it shows the break down including the VAT.

I get charged on the value, so being I have to give the VAT straight to the government, I dont see why I should give a fee based against that to eBay!

Does that make sense?

B.Martin

Ah right fair enough then, can\'t knock you for that. I\'m unfortunately in same boat as everyone else with cash.Let me save some pennies need some coilovers first then i\'ll get in touch about the koyo. Thanks
