Thanks for the info and please let me know when you find those prices for the polishing there is a place not far from me but not seen their polishing work only their re-chroming which was a good standard.

I was planning on the Motec set up as I had read your thread and it does seem the way to go and even better that Pip has maps for the 20b so should be able to get the maximum reliable power from the triple rotor.

I was reading a thread on another forum about somebody using unbreakable apex seals? can\'t say I have evere heard of these what about you?

Mir

@ unbreakable seals!! Completely lie!!! There are aviation seals, and other seals and it\'s claimed that, the seal would bent but it would not break! My answer is loads of rubbish! If the seal bends, it will still leave scores on your housing and if there is sever detonation, you may blow them or blow the side seals, which will still end up in tears! So to me it\'s another way of marketing that\'s all. I heard Skern Racing Seals supported 1000hp on 2 rotor (apparently the video is on Youtube), but that\'s just people saying and showing videos!

In my opinion, Mazda OEM Apex Seals the best, they are trial and tested by Mazda who spends Millions on their Research and structual experiments, and I wonder how much those aftermarket Apex seal builder companies spend on their Research dept! Stick to OEMs mate!

Hi Mir

Fair point, like we both previosly stated if the engine is mapped for the modifications no matter how extreme then it should (in theory) put no increased strain on those parts that can break when everything is not how it should be, as the ECU is trying to compensate for the changes to air flow and exhaust and not providing the correct mixtures required to compensate for these changes and normally gets it badly wrong as we both have experienced :(

I think the testement to Mazda and their parts was when the 787b (4 rotor) Le Mans winning car was shipped back to Japan after the win the engine was stripped down only to find there was very little wear and in the words of Mazda it could have possibly completed another 3-4 races before needing a rebuild, thats impressive and a testement to their engines and mapping. Mind you No Turbos !! :Hammer

I had never heard of those unbreakable seals it was something I read and was surprised myself as if they were that good everybody would be supplying them and everybody fitting them.

so I am in agreement with you stick with the tried and tested just to be safe

Hi Mate

I imported that Engine from America. The Engine was driven only for 22000 Kilometer and I bought the front clip off the cosmo, it was the later model of 3 rotor. So, effectively I never murdered the Cosmo, rather I bought a dead body with a live heart!!

Good to know that you have another Rotary as well

I was only joking It is nice to bring life after death my only regret is that some dealers in Japan murder a totally sound car, however if you see the prices of 20b Cosmo\'s now in Japan it is pushing the re-sale values way up not like I have any intention of selling mine but good to know as they are getting rarer.

Front Clip,,, did you get the steering column and dash with it? as I am after a little black box under the dash looks like a relay but it is the a stop and tail light checker,, checks the lighting system to see if any bulbs are out

Mir

Unfortunately! That was all knicked before the clip arrived! All I have left is 20b standard intercooler!

Ok I dispute this my friend having, real life experiance ,had two engines with bendy seals, PTS and now SCR

The PTS seals performed well and actually did save the engine on some hot episodes where as normal OEM seals would have broken, also my engine builder has broken apart an Engine which had waterseal failure that had PTS seals fitted, it was found that it had seen quite harsh det , big dents in the rotors, the engine still had good compression and the seals did the job.

Blitz, I can\'t challenge your experience for two reason firstly, you had Fds long enough and secondly when it comes to engine mods I consider you my senior in that respect. However, I know someone in states, and in Australia who broke the PTS, so I can\'t really comment. I know your builder Era, and he is very competent in my eyes, so after what you said above, I m really in a confused state! I will comment later on this subject!!!

Syed, why would you make a comment like that without actually finding out as opposed to just reading other peoples so called experiences!

I find it worrying when someone asks for help in an area and get the totally wrong answer from someone who really doesn\'t have the foggiest!!!!...just internet surfers who are perceived to know alot but know squat!.....( this isnt directed at you per say, its just a general observation, as i see it loads on this forum and others )

anyway back on track.....hows your build going?

Ed, my friend calm down :) if you read my post above I did mention that "I will comment later" the reason I said that was because, I wanted to contact my mates in Aussie and States so that they could send me some pictures of their engines. So I could publish them here on the forum! On the other side, I did once have Aviation seals in my 13b, believe me it all ended up in tears! Hence I was fedup and went for 20b!! On 20b I used 3mm apex seals, when detonation occured, the side seals let go and again I was up for a rebuild..

I like evidence based discussion but it\'s the Iphone and work commitments which is keeping me away from the desktop, otherwise I would have posted some pics! As far the PTS are concerned, Rice Racing has clearly dis them with some of his comments and evidence. Now rotary enthusiatic like me, gets confused because it\'s a rotary specialist talking and we rotary lovers are listening lollll

@ Ed the build is stressing me!! It\'s not finished! It\'s still with Pip and he want it to be 100%!! So it looks to me that It won\'t be ready fully for rotor stock!
