Hey guys picking up my 1st rx7 tomorrow, and can wait. And i hear so much stuff on generall maintainence and am at the point where I\'m confusing myself.  So could really use help or a link. Something that clearly out lines the basics. How often do change/check oil and filter what oil to use. petrol filter ect.

Cheers for the help guys. I keep reading completely different things and have over confused myself.

Also how long can you drive for happily, or should i worry about over heating and stop and rest ?
It\'s going to be a 2 hour drive home.

The car shouldn\'t just overheat! On a 2 hour drive you really shouldn\'t have any problem at all as long as the car has been well maintained and is in good condition! Check oil as regually as possible and oil change is advised every 3000 miles, oil is stricktly mineral oil. Someone else might have more information.

Best of luck :)

If it has been well maintained and the car hasn\'t got cooling issues then you should be able to drive it on the road all day without it overheating.  As Ben said in fact!

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Just drive it as you would any other turbo car, too much rotary paranoia is a death sentence in itself.

So would mineral oil. Castrol gtx any good ? And what grade would you recomend ? I keep seeing 10w30 used is that ok ?

neil_jdmr

Castrol mineral was discontinued about a year ago iirc so I would double check that.  I use 10/40 mineral about £15 halfords own brand.

Don\'t worry too much I drop mine every 2.5k and it comes out near new so not much point paying a lot for oil
