what brand do people use of the the 10w40 range of oil..

Ive heard from a few shops that Halfords oil is rather thin.. What brand of oil do you guys use?

Im looking at the Penrite HPR40 which is what i use in my car back in AUS but have also seen some good discussions with the Castrol range..

Email Opie Oils, they will be able to advise you. They recommended Fuchs Titan Race Pro s 5W-40 for me, but depends on how much money you want to spend on oil. ;) I just decided to opt for the slightly more expensive stuff as it for my first oil change of ownership!

I was just checking over my FD3 1992 J reg Import and noticed my oil was low and not very nice looking so thought I should change it and filter. Wanna make sure shes gonna be ok for the long drive to Beaulieu on Sunday.

My local motor factors recommend 5W 30 Comma X Flow Semi synthetic. Will this be ok? Need reply asap as my local garage is doing it for me this afternoon as Im too lazy to do it myself plus never done an oil change before and as easy as it looks dont wanna do anything wrong and then break down half way to beaulieu :-S lol

Never mind its done now and seems fine

i use castrol magnatec semi synthetic 10w40

Should of been 10W 40 Carl really. If you\'re changing it regulaly then it shouldn\'t matter which brand you\'re using if you\'re using your car everyday and not pushing it really hard all the time. Some change their oil every 3k miles

I had some 10w 40 and my local motor factors said it would be too thick. And he said that oil i got is what is manufacturer recommendation

carlbrainiac

Will it do any harm?

Ada7

You should be fine, but i would suggest going to 10W 40 on the next oil change
