Playing with cars on ice as a nation pastime probably has a large contribution to talent pool of Finnish rally drivers....best weve got in ice related sports is Eddie the Eagle! Hes our hero. Good film !
How do you know the ice is thick enough?

Exactly! :D

Well, about 15cm so called "steel ice" is enough for a car. About 30cm more than enough... at the moment that lake has about 50-60cm of ice. We simply drill some holes to see if ice is good and strong enough...

That is true. Kids learn to drive very early. And they can go fast in safe environment... Eddie is a legend! :)

That looks and sounds like really good fun  :)

At least you get some pleasure/benefits from your extreme cold weather  ;)
You really should come someday. It really is fun :) Other than ice racing, I really hate winter :D
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

re japi

Well, after long and agognizing wait, yesterday we finally tryed to start the red beast... Oil is moving nicely, good fuel pressure,  everything ok...and anticlimax. She wont start... :/ Getting spark and fuel. So battery might be too weak... Crap... :(

Hoping a freshly charged battery is all that's needed. Awaiting video of the engine running  :happy1:

Even with the new battery, give it a tow to start because if its been turning slow and not starting it will be flooded
All the best Clive

re japi

Last sunday i asked japi to come by, but he was watching f1s and having pizza ( aka massive hangover) thats why there are no vids yet. Sorry mates.

I think she fires a bit late and engine gets too hot. What would be the correct timing just to get her on the move?
We'll tune her on a dyno later, after running in the engine.

carbs leaks after turning off, even after i opened needle valve a couple times. I have to stop a petrolpumb earlyer than the engine. It helps and maybe the valve starts to function better after a while.

2 nd rotor gives fog through garb barrel after turning off. Is it just cos it gets so hot or could there be some extra lubrication left to burn.

She gets revs nice and i am impatient to give her red line reving. After 60ml running in?
Cant wait to go icetrack.
