Google mono shock formula, that gives you lots of pics...

Also here is link to our friends build picks. Check out his rear suspension setup

Wow, the Mono shock thing is a little confusing.

With Mono meaning single, the only logic I can make, is that years ago springs and shocks were two separate units so I presume mono just means both the shock and the spring become one Mono unit.

The racing car thing poked my memory as their has been a  single seater formula for years and years called Mono Posto , which translates to single-seat

p.s the upside down shock makes sense reducing unsprung weight, because if the mass weight of the suspension system is reduced the shock responds better as its controlling reduced weight.

Been reading researching up to look at ways off converting westfield from live to fully independent...its major chassis surgery and prob something i need a specialist todo. I have not not got the terminology to explain but a few mm or degress out and its goona handle like pigs ear lol.

Yes its quite weird unit. :) But it really has only ONE coilover and basically two shafts from both sides pushing it. Of course there is many versions, but idea is the same. Believe me, I dont understand how that works and I have been studying it a bit :D That unit what kind of converts shock from shaft to torgue to shock to coilover is really confusing...

Same pricipals and idea can use in any terrain, doesent matter what you race. Thats´s the coal if you really want your suspension and tires to work in their full potential...

What we have learned with Janne´s Lada is that even if some guru says something, it doesent mean that its going to work on your car necessarely. We have data and drivers gut feeling to prove it. And you have to understand that Lada has 3rd evo version suspension on front and I think that 6th on back. And he is going to modify it again... It has been a LONG road to get that suspension to work...

With current rear on Westory, I wouldnt change anything. Maybe just link positions on chassis and axle. If you change different rear to it, then its different thing, I would go with fully independent, just because cambers, casters, toes and so on. Then again, I dont know crap about Westfields... :D

Easyest way might be to do what bro did. Swap FD´s or 8´s all rear with subframe and bolt it to Westies subframe...

Crap, I forgot that. :) But if going to use MX5 unit, you should use mk2 "big blocks". Its better, takes more beating. And if I remember correctly, more easier to find LSD and rations...

Oh and Jon, if I´m coming to your area in spring and you let me, I can give you some tips how to do that rear. Its impossible for me to tell them in here, better in person and with a car on stands ;)
