Your best bet is to use the comparison sites for a rough estimate of how cheap you can get it from \'normal\' companies like morethan, admiral, stuff like that, and then ring around specialist insurers like Adrian Flux, Sky Insurance, people that are familiar with performance cars, then get them to beat the cheapest quote you already have from comparisons.

If you\'re going to be 21 (same age bracket as me - 21 - 24), then be prepared for it to be expensive. I;m 24 with 5 years NCB and insuring an FC N/A runs somewhere in the region of £900 annually, and a standard FD runs in the region of £1400 annually, and thats with 5 years NCB.

Sy.

Adrian Flux, Sky Insurance seem to be the best and seem to know what mods and cars are . AVOID tesco and Elephant unless you want to give all details on mods etc and still not be covered !!

try getting a traders policy
you can run three of your own cars
and anyone elses

Hmm, traders policy.... How much are they from somebody who knows? That might actually be an idea...

Don\'t even bother looking on comparison sites, especially if it\'s an import.

Best bet is the good old fashioned ringaround - Flux, Sky, A-Plan, REIS, and Peter Best are te ones I usually try. People have been reporting good prices from Footman James as well.

However, if you trash your car, you will only ever get trade value for it, bear in mind that doesn\'t include mods. Lots of trade policies are now also very selective about their requirements, and many need to see proof of you being a trader.
Not something I\'d ever really consider for the value reason.
You also have the ballache of updating what cars you are driving on the MID.

Do you have to update the MID?
Do you have to be a trader?
Do you have to sell x number of cars a year to qualify?
Does the policy only cover trade value of cars (I\'d be very surprised if it does)
Does the policy cover imports?
Does it have restrictions on power?
Does it cover modifications (both regarding claims, and repalcement)

All of these things are vital to check, and things that you may not find out until you have to claim :(

If you live with a parent put them down as a named driver!
Took just over £400 off my quote when I put my mum on it,
Which would be a laugh to see her drive it! Lol. Got my
Insurance for £618 paying monthly. That was with
insureyourmotor.com who are insurance broker for aviva.
I\'m 23 with 4 years no claims, \'96 FD

I got my rex when i was 19 and got my dad to insure it through adrian flux and then i just payed him what it cost him for insurance. Then i had my own cheap car that i had insured through a company that let me drive other cars with the owners permition! BUT! after driving it a few months i found out that on the adrian flux policy that no one under 25 should be driving the car, so that was the end of that! So kept the car inside and done some work on it, and last year i turned 21 and went on a compare site and got insurence for about £1300 but as i own a car for work i only insure the rex for the summer so its not to bad. But i have 5 years no claims wich helps!:D
