hi, i\'ve only had my efini twin turbo for two weeks, so i\'m still learning about it.

yesterday i had the oil and filter changed (after first 500 miles on new engine) and have since noticed something strange.

as i accelerate i can hear the \'whoosh\' of the turbo a lot more than before. as i lift off the accelerator, the sound stops and sounds almost like a dump valve! the sound must be from the turbos, but i never heard it that loud before- only after the oil and oil filter change. it sounds like the windscreen fans are on full blast when i accelerate!

i have also noticed that it doesn\'t have as much power as before. the \'kick\' just isn\'t there anymore. the car has not been modified at all

any ideas??

sounds like a vacuum leak the whoosh you hear is all your boost hence you don\'t get the same kick as before. Check for any hoses that may ofcome loose or any split hoses.

cheers brian,

i\'ve had a good look at the area around the oil filter and filler cap, but no joy :(

the boost sensor is located close by, but can\'t see anything wrong

any idea which hoses could be causing the leak, and where they\'re located? my mechanic did get under the car to drain the oil, could he have dislodged something here?

Where abouts in Kent are ya? Seems to be loads lately!! :D

Does sound like the boost is leaking from what you have described.:(

Where did you get the oil changed?

msc125

i live in north kent (rainham).

my local mechanic (known him as long as i can remember) changed the oil. he\'s dealt with quite a few performance cars (and rx\'s) so i trust him. (errr... unless this problem is his fault  )

spoke to him today, he said he\'d have a look tomorrow for any disconnected or split hoses.

is this leak bad for the engine or the turbo itself? will there be any long term effects?

hi,

i found out that the leak was due to a broken valve, which i taped up (temp fix) until i could find a new one. unfortunately the people i\'ve asked do not know exactly what it\'s called or where i can get one from

the broken valve is out of view in the pic, and is slightly smaller than the one shown

any ideas?:

I broke the same check valve 6 months ago and replaced it with a Universal one (plain black plastic thing) from the local motor factors (couple of quid).

Car has run perfect since then..:)
