It\'s been a small concern since i bought the car, but the gear lever has quite a bit of play in it when both in gear and neutral. I haven\'t had a chance to get the surrounding parts off of the gear lever yet as i\'m currently not living where my FC is kept (car is kept at my dads, and i live a fair few miles away)

I saw on Lacey\'s thread the potential cause for this wobblyness, so will investigate as soon as possible. Would this play be the reason for gears crunching when i\'m accelerating a bit quicker than the norm? Usually get a small grind when changing gears, from 1st to 2nd, then 2nd to 3rd at around 4k+

Thanks

Mike

Havn\'t tested mine on the road yet as it\'s not safe so not sure if I have the same problem! :/

I have the same problem with crunchy gears, mines hard to get into first when its cold too.
From what ive read alot of people cured the crunch by changing to redline mt90 gear oil, another thing to do is replace the clutch fluid and re-bleed the slave cylinder, and replace the shifter bushing.

Im gonna try bleeding my slave first see what happens! :D

i remember my TII used to crunch into 3rd under hard acceleration and it used to always crunch into 5th. Fitted a new clutch and changed the transmission fluid and the problem with 3rd disappeared. 5th gear was always crunchy which i put down the the synchro going. Just mean I had to rev match with the gear stick when changing up to 5th.

The car also had a short shift kit, which I guess may have been to hide the sloppy gear stick, though i never tried it without the short shifter so it may have been fine. My older egi had a wobbly nob.... and I quite liked it tbh! oooh my

Thanks guys. From the sounds of things it\'s nothing too drastic. Was worried about a potential gear box rebuild being imminent :wiggle

I\'ll be looking at that during the week and seeing what\'s what :) I\'ll bleed the clutch system too after attending the gear lever.

Much appreciated guys and gals :cheers
