If I\'d have taken her neither of us would have been seen again! She was way too cute to give back anyway ^_^

Nice Photo\'s as per usual :driving & pity you run out of Battery Power Nik !!!!

That reminds me about the guy at the gate,he first can\'t find me on the List, even though I flashed my MRC Membership Card & I said am GreySilver Beast or might be under BlackSparkling Beast !!
He then found me on the List,as I was on the bottom of the 2nd page :) ,but just before I was about to drive down,he then said, this is a MAZDA isn\'t it ? I said yes of course,that\'s what the badges say :rollin I then drove done & didn\'t have the heart to say it\'s not a Rotary, but in fact a MPS instead :D

Geeeeezzzzzzz, why do we bother trying to put anything on (yes I have an opinion as well) !

A good day was had by all as far as I know or thought  but I feel that if we go back next year the mind set here needs to be different so we don’t keep getting  this each year ,

We really need a mindset that means we realise that it is an honour for MRC to be allowed to hold an event at such an historic venue not a right

I not only know that people around the world would love to have a place as historically special as Brooklands to go to, but I also know we are the only Japanese car club allowed to hold an event and that there with many other Marques either unable to be fitted in or banned which has taken place in the past where a couple of individuals feel they can totally disregard the rules to get their own way.

For instance the Mopar club will never ever be allowed back due to just one famous individual in the club that kicked of just because he arrived late and could not get inside where the clubhouse is !

I knew what happed with Brian as I was informed immediately and I\'m sorry but not only would Brooklands have been sued as irresponsible but it would have meant the end of the club had you pulled away had the throttle stick open and crashed with a child on his lap !

Please don\'t say this can\'t happen as this happened just 2 weeks ago in a NASCAR Sprint Cup race in spite of mandatory fail safes built into the throttle mechanism

Sadly as Nik must know from the railway, we live in a "sue you world" that sadly as an old git I have been seeing growing stronger and stronger over the years and have witnessed that  it’s the public who have made it this way not the bureaucrats, indeed even I have a mate who played on a supposed back problem and gleaned 7 grand for it after slipping over in Tescos where there was a sign saying "wet" and yet he and I know that not many years ago he would have put this down to his own carelessness, instead he played the system like so many will nowadays.

If you read this properly you may see why I feel that it’s not bureaucrats that create that create all these health and safety issues , its people like you and me with the American style ambulance chaser solicitors only too please to back us to get a “piece of the action”.

As head of the club I have to take this type of thing on board and as much as I hate to admit it “be responsible” and aware that the club itself can fall foul of predators out for gain which is why we have a one million pound public liability policy because anyone who organises a group of people for anything even resembling an event of any kind in effect sets themselves up as a target for this eventuality.

If any other club members have had problems please come forward so we can better make the decision as to whether to hold a Brooklands event in 2012 as Lisa and myself stage this event for YOU not us, so if lot\'s have had problems we need to know and will just drop it off the calendar and done with ,

As I say if we go back, we must go back with a different mindset knowing we have to play by the rules as it is a privilege not a right to hold an event at Brooklands

BTW, I was going to cancel the Brooklands banking shoot as only three people came forward because there was a fee, but when I told the nasty  Brooklands people this they waved the fees and let it go ahead anyway !

I never ever ever get involved in these discussions but this time I\'m gonna say my opinion even though I don\'t expect anyone to really be interested! :)

I personally think Brooklands is a great day out and I think everyone who shows up has a good time, gets to see lots of fantastic cars and meet up with people they chat to on the forum but don\'t see! I also believe everyone is grateful to Clive and Lisa for organising it all, as there is always a long list of thanks for doing so on these threads. :Thumbs-up

I think we all understand why the Brooklands marshals have to do the job they do but I think they are more than a little aggressive-I had a proper fight to get in myself! :Hammer  That being said though I still had a lovely day.

Think what I\'m trying to say is that people will have a grumble if they are not being treated nicely.....doesn\'t mean they don\'t enjoy the day or that we don\'t want the event to happen anymore-just means the staff narked us a bit and we\'re having a moan!!  I haven\'t seen any comment here that says anything about the day being anything but great in regards to the actual club.

My honest opinion......focus on all the comments that say great day thank u and have a chuckle about the grumpy staff-I did! Or, of course, just ignore my random ramblings here!! :D

HI
Quite agree with you Jojo - well summed up. It was a good day.
Personally, I was warmly greeted at the gate, checked off on the list, and guided down to the car park. I thought the staff were fine.

As a newbie here, I thought it worth mentioning that I have experience of forums in other corners of my life unrelated to cars. Those forums have the same problems where most people seldom post - most members are quite content to just read - which is OK. However, the MRC forum is really active with a load of posts everyday of the year. If there were only a few posts per month then the club could count itself in real trouble. As it is, there are a great many people who have the passion and commit the time to contribute to the forum and help its members. Many of the members also do valuable work to help Clive and Lisa.
All in all, I\'d say this is a very healthy club.

Looking forward to the event next year too.
Keep up the good work.

I think Madame le Jo has provided the most balanced version of it, really. The day, as always, is a qualified success. Qualified because everyone has a great time and sings praises despite any niggles that may arise. I think however, instead of reacting in an "oh my god, it\'s a disaster" sorta way maybe it\'s time to realise that if year on year the same complaints are aired maybe there\'s a genuine issue that needs to be adressed?

I guess it\'s just a sad inditement of modern culture that everything is adjusted downwards to allow for the lowest common denominator, rather than claim seekers being treated as the fools they are. As to the railway having public liability, yes, it does, for a good reason. Maybe it\'s because I\'m trusted to control a 100mph 300 tonne projectile without ending up on News At Ten for killing 800 people that I expect to be considered able to walk up a concrete bank without tripping over my own feet, injuring myself and suing.

As to the fact we should be honoured to be allowed to set foot on such hallowed turf, well, that doesn\'t really cut it for me, any more than the banning of the Mopar club for having the effrontery to turn up to an event they have presumably paid for and expect to be let in!? The cheek of them :rollin As far as I can see, Brooklands is a crumbling relic that has completely failed to preserve adequately the heritage they make such great noise about, and if they go bust then they should probably look at their own scandalous mismanagement.

Hold the event in a field full of cowpats for all I care, I\'d still turn up because I go to meet up with friends, see rotaries and support my club, not to prop up a greedy organisation that are content to cynically treat us as a cash cow and give very little back. I couldn\'t give a monkeys about their museum or any of the rest of it. I wouldn\'t like anyone to think this is a rant, or aimed at anyone in particular, but since the topic was raised again (not by me, I may add) and responded to, I kinda reserve the right to re-enter the discussion on it as long as it continues. Personal opinion, not aimed at anyone, don\'t get all bent out of shape :InLove

BTW, if they waived the banking fee, does that mean I can claim my tenner back from the other year? :rollin

:o *ahem* never made it in a rotary last year, either *cough* That was, errr, two engine failures back :Hammer

We went as a family in the wife\'s Hahhhnda, and the nice man on the gate wouldn\'t let us in at all. Had to go and park right round the back by Mercedes Theme Park Aspirational Toff\'s World, as it happens :rollin
