Looked at the links, the 3m glue doesn\'t say it\'s designed for wrapping does it.

I\'ve found this link which is 3M carbon wrap and these guys are doing it as I would, straight off the backing paper and onto the surface.

yep, your right it says to be used with tape, i just assumed tape/ sticky vinyl, same thing, and it couldnt make the adhesion anyworse.

Remember kids, never assume

Carbon RX

Quote from: Simaroon;758541that looks a good finish, how long has it been done? have you got a close up pic of around the heater controls?

I prob done it about nerly one yr ago now, mainly parked in garage.
I do agree to the stressed parts of the material peeling up after time but mainly only around very stretched radius\'sonly on mine thou.

The bond from the material without mentioning or confusing the subject with extra bonding substances is very good otherwise. I wish i knew how to normalise the material after stretching it when i was doing mine, surely an oven could be used there?

Will try get some better pics mate...

Having used this type of carbon wrap on both metal and plastic surfaces there is no doubt it sticks much better to metal.

If I were going to wrap some internal plastic parts I think I would prime and paint them first in order to give the adhesive on the vinyl the best surface to adhere to.
