I\'ve got a brand new gt35r from Clive but when the car idles you can hear the bearing, like it doesn\'t get oil, but I checked and it gets enough oil through the restrictor. Is this normal?

Make sure your oil return is ok as well
Iv seen blocked oil return pipes destroy turbos.

ok,will check this tomorrow, but it\'s brand new, should it make any noise at all?
the gt28Rs don\'t make this noise on my friends silvia.

Hi Kris,

A turbo will die literally in just a few minutes with no oil feed, I would suggest this is just the turbo itself spinning that you can hear.

I fitted a GT series to my own FD as soon as these ball bearing Turbos came out and it always amused me that when the engine was turned off you could hear the turbo spinning as it slowed to a stop which I can see would be a worry if you didn\'t know what is going on

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

If its a ball bearing turbo it will make like a grinding sort of noise. Easy way to check is if you start the car and rev it slightly then turn it off and the grinding noise slowly stops then its a normal ball bearing turbo noise if there is no grinding after you switch off there is a problem.

Ball bearing turbo\'s always make a bit of sound when spinning.

Still spinning after shutdown? Really?

yep that\'s the sound :-), but is it normal that there\'s a little oilmist in the intake?
Does this go away once it\'s run in?
