I am thinking of using the Apexi commander to act as a gauge for the boost and water temp

Do you think this is a good idea?

BlitzBoy

simple answer, yes!!!!! it can peak hold as well on the monitor screen option

Thanks BlitzBoy,

Is it suitable for upgrading as well, so if i get a single turbo and it starts running harder, is the commander able to handle the upgrades?

BlitzBoy

You do realise you need the Apexi Power FC ECU as well, the Apexi commander can not plug into the stock ECU.
you can make a basic changes via the commander to the Apexi Power FC ecu , injector values, ignition values etc etc but for proper remapping you need a datalogit with its FC edit software and a laptop and wideband

I know, i have the ECU installed, just at the time i did not really need the commander.
What gauges can it act as:

Boost, water temp, oil temp, etc?

No worries i found out what it can tell.

I find it nowhere near as good as a decent gauge tbh - it\'s ok for reading stuff back afterwards, but if you want to glance quickly at something, there\'s no substitute for a good old fashioned analog gauge IMHO.

It looks a lot better than a dash cluttered with gauges tho imo

if you don\'t already have a commander I\'ve got a spare one for sale. It\'ll work with all PFCs with the serial number starting FD3S4/5/6.

Work hard, play hard house :D

Is the commander accurate, or is it a bit behind when showing the value?

trotter

it takes it directly from the ECU, which in turn takes it\'s readings directly from the engine sensors. It\'s pretty accurate, as long as the sensors still work!! ;)

I plan on using my FC commander as a guage for the time being. I dont like dashes covered in gauges so im looking at re-doing the heater console with gauges but thats going to be a while off so the commander is ideal really.

upgrade your air temp sensor and will improve performance on that at least...
