Gus turned up 54,000 yesterday. He\'s an idle brute!  ....:bandit
(Good cavalry men shouldn\'t blame their steeds though)!

He\'d just turned up 53,000 at the beginning of Feb last year.

So that\'s around 43p per mile before a sniff of fuel goes in.    :2eek

So a 90 mile round trip to York or Lincoln costs about £55 with fuel....

Thats quite low, even for you Dave - due to global warming perhaps? Longer winters and more rain in the summer, so keep GUS in the warm / dry garage.
So what is your (GUS\'s) fuel consumption on a run?

At this rate you\'ll be servicing GUS in three years then? :evillaugh

On a longish summer run, maybe 25/26 mpg. Exact consumption is 609 litres in 3095 miles since July 2008. That\'s 23.09 mpg.

Oh the joys of Spreadsheets- particularly when you\'re retired with time to mess about with \'em (for no real reason).

Well it means more servicing/1000 miles I guess. I just keep a little MANUAL black book....not Spreadsheeted.....Hmmmm. (Been doing that in different books since the 1960\'s but this book has run for RX7\'s from 1984).

All Gus\'s servicing is logged and it\'s done as and when I\'ve put it to fall due, never all at once. By that I mean I might go and change the gearbox oil if it\'s reached 15,000 miles, but I won\'t bother with the back axle until that\'s reached it\'s own interval. Similarly antifreeze gets changed at 3 years but nothing else done until it\'s own time if you see what I mean. With low mileages and time aplenty it keeps the interest factor up and means he gets plenty of check overs.      :3gears-lh NOT DRIVING

Its scarey to think I do almost 1k in the space of a month in my FB, getting close to 145k on the clock !

The gas does wonders for the Oil, Its going a little golden now so is getting ready to be changed. No sign of carbon in the oil at all !

Well actually Dave - isn\'t this why you are our statistician, because you\'re so good with spreadsheets!
No seriously, it does no harm and in fact it is a darn useful set of records because you can assess the overall performance of GUS and must therefore be able to identify more readily when something perhaps is starting to go wrong. It is also a base-line for us other poor souls to aspire too :cool. I like it mate.

Have to admit that I too have always kept records for all my cars in a similar fashion. I on the otherhand have always used the blank pages in the Haynes Workshop Manuals which I have passed on to the garages when I sold the car - hopefully this would benefit other owners.
Good idea I think to do maintenance on this basis, that way you know nothing gets missed.

Has its benefits using a vehicle more often especially if used for motorway or dual carriageway driving.  More lubrication, more enjoyment and fun too and in your case the added lower running costs.  Out of interest Shaun, what does she do mpg approx?

I\'ve done ~450 miles in the mx7 since monday :s Averaging 21mpg on my 13b, though I did 23 today :D

Rexanne\'s done 70,000 so far, can\'t see it tasking too long to reach 6 figures!

It\'s a wonder you\'ve had any time to work driving those sort of distances - in one or two days? :3gears-rh

I get about 18mpg out of the LPG, but that is with all sorts of everyday driving. Can include a bit of traffic too ! I can get it up to 23/24 on motorway runs !

Hey Steve - you were about 12 miles away from me today, wished I\'d known we could have met up.
Good day for driving - I hope you had a \'FOR SALE\' sign on th MX7 while you were running it in :D

I didn\'t realise I was that close!

I did realise I\'d be up your way, and thought about the spare wheel, but I had a colleague with me and had to play Tetris with cameras, lights and tripods to get what I needed for the shoot in the 5 as it was!
