What power can be achieved from a carb\'d PP 12A? This is without worrying about controlling noise levels from the exhaust. Etc

HaywardRotary

I have made 250 flywheel hp on an IDA that is PP\'d at less than 105db so far.

That\'s good, how big are the PP\'s?

Just wondering about this because of the 12A I have and wether it is worth me keeping, as I have the gear box to go with it and have been offered a mini.

Sorry if this is a bit of a highjack Grant....

Have you got comparison numbers for 12 bridge and 13b PP and bridge Carl?

I\'m still trying to work out what route to follow with my FBs engine, I\'m fairly sure it\'ll be n/a and IDA style throttle bodies, but there\'s still many variables!

I agree with Carl on the 250 mark. Some books say about 270ish. 250 is good. I wish I had that and at 105db

HaywardRotary

If we were able to run a completely open exhaust then we would get 270hp plus.
On a bridge port we generally get around 220-230hp at 105 db.
Most on a 13b so far is 310hp at under 105 db.

If you do a major extend port the expect around 170 hp on a 12a and 200 hp on a 13b using an IDA carb. These setups are best for road as smooth idle is retained and some measure of lower fuel consumption!

270HP! would that be ear bleedingly louder than what steves PP was? I think I will keep hold of this engine that I have got as it is worth more to me than it is to sell it, and it is definately going to go in a mini.

I shall be getting the rx4 finished and hopefully sell the RX7, then have a look for a solid mini.

Best to plan ahead I guess.

re japi

My friend is consedering 12 a PP engine to his rallycross car. I think he wants full race engine with great quality. I have tryed to search who builds them, cost, power and torque, service and full rebuild times, and so on? Any info would be nice.

Btw, i tryed to contact HaywardRotary with email, but i didnt find a link.  :)
