Hi! Ive recently broken something on my car but i dont know what it is lol. I think its some sort of one way valve with vaccum tubes running into it. its positioned next to the intake compression tube.

Can i run the car for a short period of time with simply bi-passing this valve? Just need to move the car to a garage next door.

Cheers! Adam

Mine broke too when I fitted my Greddy Compression tube. Same break as yours actually. Let me dig the PM out that Prof sent me about it.

Hi Ade,

Yikes - forgot about that - I\'ve actually finally got rid of mine, but it\'s probably best to keep it for now till you\'ve deleted all the vac stuff.

It\'s the purge control valve - basically, it\'s plumbed into 2 of the nipples on the front of the throttle body, and the lower nipple on the oil filler neck - it\'s right by the body.

It\'s job is to recirc positive crank pressure and any oil vapours back into the engine for combustion under certain rev\'s / vac conditions. I\'d say it\'s almost reduantant, as the top nipple on the oil neck can do the same job in my opinion, and that draws vapours into the air intake through a 1 way valve.

On my setup now, I\'ve kept the top oil neck feeding into the intake, and blanked off the lower 2 nipples on the front of the throttle body - I use the top one for my BOV. I have a bit of rubbber hose on the lower oil neck nipple that just goes down the back of the engine - it\'s got a bolt in it that can come out if there is ever any excess pressure - but it\'s never moved - so the top nipple is doing enough it seems

If you want to keep it, then plumb it into the front of the throttle body with some small lines :

top of the purge valve to the middle nipple on the throttle body, smaller nipple on the underside to the lowest nipple on the throttle body, then a length of rubbber hose form the largest port on the purge valve to the lower oil neck nipple. If you can, mount it upright so the oil doesn\'t get into the top vac line through the diaphragm inside.

Now I think of it, we had to modify the old intercooler bracket that side as well, as the back of it fouled the tube, and the front stay gets in the way of where the IAT sensor goes - if you can find a way of removing it all together you\'re laughing. Watch out for the engine earthing point there though - it\'s the ground for some of the engine sensors - you can get all sorts of bother if it\'s not a good contact.

Sorry for the long old reply - that should be it I think.

Dave.

I have removed mine as above. Done around 300 miles and all seems ok.

Awsome! So for a quick run up of the engine can i simply just run a length of rubber hose between the metal conections where this recirc valve was?

Prof

no - best to just blank them all off (at the metal tubes - which I guess is the vacuum rack ) if you\'re just testing the engine.

Yeah im just looking to run the engine up to tempreture then move it next door. Has anyone got one of these spare kicking around?? If not ill have a dig in tims cave \'\'rx motors\'\' :)
