rev counter acting up

Need some help guys, my rev counter seems be acting up, it works fine when going up to 2500rpm then decides to bounce relentlessly between 3000 and 4000 but once going beyond 4000 its fine, doesn\'t affect the preformance just kind of annoying seeing it bounce like that.
Seems to be in every gear.
Any help would be awesome..
