Yes I accept that this was an unusual place to be, im not sure if I would be offended by a newcomer offering his car for sale, even though I might have earlier praised him, given him advice etc, as you chaps have. I think I would have thought, more fool him, and looked at it as, "his loss", and "someone elses gain", so to speak.

I would like to think, (and I do believe) that the MRc forum, is a place where advice and friendliness is free, and expressed without, pre-judgement if you like. As I say we are all different, does not make any of us bad.

Thank you for accepting me back into the Mag 8 :Giggle

Ian, I am not that callous, you were the most helpful of persons here on MRC Forum, sending me links etc, and I am grateful to you all.

Kiss kiss, hug hug, Im sorry, i will do anything for the mag 8 but I wont do that, yuk put your tongue away it tickles.

Quote from: don wyatt;723597if someone said to me, Hi Don, I have been looking for an RX7 for 10 years, its my dream, and I cant afford more than £1000, or £850, (which I what I am about to pay for the car) I would most likely say, Here you go, have this one.

   ^^^^^^^^^    thats what i meant when i offered £850  :yes:yes:yes:yes
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Right Don – Chico here and out comes the rifle mate.
As you quite rightly stated, we here at the forum are an extremely friendly bunch of guys whom all share the same passion, desire and dedication for what is probably the number love in our lives (next to our better halves that is) – the 1st Gen RX7.
The RX7 is a very scarce motor vehicle but for such enthusiasts would have been extinct within the first decade of its life, but it isn’t dead mate, it is definitely still alive and the heart of this fantastic piece of transport history throbs and is beating very strongly. The forum consists of individuals with a common thread – the continuation of this mighty beast in one form or another. This passion extends to visitors and guests alike who lovingly, are trying to maintain and even improve the life expectancy of their pride and joy for us all to enjoy and something to behold and be extremely proud of.
The only way to ensure this happens is by communicating with others whom through their own experiences have been able to analysis and toil over issues which fully trained mechanics at ‘Main Dealerships’ are incapable of rectifying “because there is nothing in their manuals or data bases for this vehicle – sorry”. These are the true mechanics, engineers and tacticians of this world and these individuals have earned respect from others due to their tenacity to over come and resolve such problems. This is why they are able to share in the enthusiasm of others who are keen to explore new or re-kindle previous memories of owning and being behind the wheel of such a wonderful mode of transport. Many hours are spent by individuals to compile presentations and ‘buyer’s guides’ and the like to assist newcomers and future friends so that they can truly enjoy and experience the joys and sometimes toils of driving these machines.
So with this in mind Don, take at look from our side of the window – it’s not a very nice view when the hand of friendship is offered, only to be torn off by grasping clawing hands after nothing but a quick profit – that is how it seemed to us. This is why it went quiet, yes we were/are stunned by such arrogance to think that we would accept this with open arms. I personally don’t think it was ‘the forum’ that got it wrong.
Right Don – rifle put away mate (by the way they were only blanks) and let’s draw a line under this, forget about it, now let’s go forward together as a team hey.
I do (by the way) admire you for your careful consideration and thought of offering this vehicle to forum members first and agree that this is where it probably will sell – lets hope later rather than sooner.
Me, I also agree that you should leave the colour as is – it is after all a very nice shade of blue (although I prefer white, I could live with it) and the interior is well matched.
Drive it and enjoy it for a while – put her away till next spring when we all meet up for this get together we have been chatting about.
Catch you soon mate,
Chico

Don if you keep the car,i\'d keep the colour too, as from what i\'ve read it\'s a good original solid car.
If you change the colour you may damage it\'s originality & resale.

Hi Chico, You cant keep a good gringo down you know, once he has the bit between his teeth, and a cigar stub burning his bottom lip its a matter of quiet refection and then the six shooter is drawn in a flash. :bandit

The last word; I have to be perfectly honest, I must be totally thick, or thick skinned as It did not even enter my mind that anyone here would get the hump because of what was really, (for me anyway) a pretty fair offer to MRC members, I didnt think for one moment that by considering selling the car on the forum, my friendships would be brought into question, this is probably because I am a serial classic car fall in love, get bored, sell, and buy another merchant.

But honestly guys this dont make me a user, which has been suggested.

Just to give you all a quick idea of the type of lunatic I am, You may have seen the 240Z pics. this is typical of me, like i said we are all different. I imported this car from california straight out of a breakers yard, brought it into the UK, spent £20.000 on restoration and sold it 1 year later, out of boredom, and bought a hideous 2CV Woody Estate.

Weird but true.

This time though chaps, I havnt had a classic car in about 12 months, so I am very keen and I do love that shape. So I may be around for some time yet.

Why not take a bit of time out to come and meet up, and look over this car ?, I own a cafe in a Country Park here in Kent, and could possibly arrange an afternoon meet, with complimentary teas/coffees if anyone is interested. Large free car park too.

Hi Don - no worries mate, no more dwelling on this.
:wave

Sounds like a possible meet for us forum members?  What was under discussion previously was location due to the distances involved for all becasue we are spread across the country - albeit southern England is home for the majority of FB\'s I think.  So in order for everybody to have the opportunity for less travelling the suggestion was for multi location meetings - I thought this was fair as the majority of us have probably restricted our mileage to 3k per year and of cause the \'old girls\' are beginning to mature now - so are some of us drivers too I would imagine.  Anyway the \'meets\' are still to be confirmed.

Bet next week can\'t come soon enough for you?

Aye, too true Chico.

Looking forward to poking about, getting that bumper sorted, and those niggly little jobs sorted, give the interior a bl**dy good shampoo, and then I can call it my own. Its all briefed up too, so its straight in the old jam jar and and give it a caning. :evillaugh

You\'re a lucky man Gringo - I\'ve had JAZ since March 10 and haven\'t driven her properly yet \'cause of the restoration work but nearly there now I think.  Can\'t wait for those magical moments again on the highways.

Hey chico, have a word with your twin brother he,s copying your posts mate :rollin

You have probably told me before, but what are you doing to your car ? Engine mods I would hesitate a guess.

I cant make up my mind to chuck cash at modifications or what, I like the idea of originality, (being a classic fan, more than a bhp fan) but I also want to be able to burn the silly pants off those kids in their silly saxos :Grrr

Once I have the car back here, you are most welcome to come and give it a thrash about if your passing, I have no idea how it even drives yet, only went out as a passenger with the retired drivers husband, wasnt that thrilling !!!:Laugh.

Just off for breakfast mate, some chilli beans and rice.

An eerie whisling refrain penetrates the high noontime in the deepest Kent countryside.

A nervous owner, Gringo, goes out on the veranda of the Bar None cafe and coffee shop. He looks up, squinting into the noonday sun.

Vague shapes are silhouetted against the sun: Gringo thinks he can see seven figures approaching......it can\'t be,.....it is,.....The Mag 7 are in town!    :bandit

There are 6 clicks as the drivers doors are locked. A seventh voice says "I still can\'t get this buggering window slider right".

Then a harsh voice rasps out of the haze. "Hey Chico, cover them tables". "And you, Gringo, reach for the Douwe Egberts".

Like it guys?
