As title says, does anyone know the Cost of building and installing a 4 rotor?

Knowing the cost of installing a 20B into FD is approx 15K, a 4 rotor would be in a region of 25k including all the ancillaries needed eg ECU,fuelling,Subframe etc etc

OMG!! are we talking about UK, K? e.g 1k = £1000?

If so about 25k is nuts!!!!!

yip correct, to get a proper 4 rotor e-shaft from down under last time I heard was verrrrrry expensive.

What are your HP goals? you probably dont even need a 4 rotor or 3 Rotor

Yeah thats right..why would you need four rotor??? I think 20b is more than enough....I am talking from experience... As my 20b is capable of beating any street car all day long...Go 20b..otherwise stay with 13b coz 13b can give 20b a very hard time....Talking from experience, I wish would have stayed with 13b...as 20b is more expensive to run...no cheap stuff at all :(.....

If you search through the forum there\'s a thread about a 4-rotor build from last year - the guy was Norwegian IIRC.....

I was down at WGT by chance when it was in build and it\'s essentially a strip down and rebuild of the car itself!!! Pip was saying at the time that it\'s not a build for the faint-hearted.

Bear in mind that a 26b conversion is not far off the engine that was in the 787B Le Mans car!!! :p

The sound is so amazing, just loving the "Scoot" 4 rotary sound\'s...

Got my Ad on P.heads: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1981869.htm

After my sale am thinking of either getting JM imports our Newera to import a FD for me, still not made up my mind as both sound as good....

I think 25k is conservative.  Last time I looked in the states to update an FD to a 20b was about 35k us dollars.  The engine is just one piece of the puzzle.  The suspension, trans rear end diff all those things need to be considered when trying to put done that much power.  Good luck on this project and keep us updated on your plans.

johnnymolloy

check out pusle performance they did mad mikes 4 rotor and i think a 4 rotor kit from them is 13000 aussie dollars

Apart from pro street drag cars and that gt60 beast on utube i`ve never seen a turbod 4rotor street car. Does it generate too much heat or is it just too complicated?

sadgoth

reasons for not seeing many probably include:
fuel consumption
unusable power
noise
cost
effort to build
etc etc

And when you can get a reliable 450bhp out of a 13b (way more if you sacrifice driveability) a reliable 650bhp out of a 20b (with no stress on the engine) why would you need the 26b?

I was thinking about this during a quiet spell at work the other day, but then for similar money you could go for an RST V8 or similar (ie: bike engine V8s). Still light, similar size, still high revving, perhaps less likely to pop... *dons flamesuit*

Dont need a 4 rotor for that, a PP 20B with a big turbo will easily generate over 1000bhp
