Under any sort of throttle, the rex is boosting but being accompanied by a reaaly loud hissing /whoosing noise.Almost like a snake!
Itsa definately not pulling quite as well,so being the clever chap that i am-assumed a boost leak.:2Rolleyes
Checked v mount clamps and hoses, cant find it.....Any help would be massively appreciated.its an fd on twins by the way!
Thanks guys:WaveBye

You dont have a BOV/Dump Valve do you?

I know it sounds stupid but my old car (SCoupe Turbo) used to hiss as it could not regulate the pressure in the dump valve.

Enzo

It could well be that....how would i check that?:2Confused

The only reason I figured out it was ther BOV was that it sounded exatly the same as the hissing noise and vice versa.

Simpliest way to test it is to remove the BOV and plug the hole with something. Then go for a ride.:3gears-rh

It\'s its the BOV then it\'s best to remove it completely or go for a Recirculating one as it will "recycle" the unused air pressre and put it back into your turbos.:Thumbsup!

At a guess...your not using a Bailey BOV are you?

PS.

As cool as they sound, unless your car is heavily modified a standard BOV doe not make much differnece (ideally to reduce turbo lag). A recirc is the next best option.

Chances are its a hose if you are loosing a lot of power then it would be a major hose, if it\'s slightly down on power you might need to check the rats nest
:Laugh LOL

Enzo

Its an Xs power one.......
The noise is really loud, you can hear it over the engine practically.

Enzo

I was so so so hoping that i would\'nt hear the words rats nest!:2Rolleyes
Ive looked at it before and it was like a bad dream.

What Y-pipe do you have?  The stock black plastic crossover from the early FD Y-pipe is prone to cracking, and the coupler between the Y and the crossover is also prone to splitting.

Equally the turbo intake pipes can sometimes collapse under vacuum if they\'ve been damaged, which might make a noise and would reduce power? (never experienced myself...)

I\'ve got loads of the stock intake parts in the shed if you figure out something is broken... and the later Efini-Y pipe with a polished crossover if it turns out to be from that area.
