They will make 1 bar by 3200-3500 depending on porting. But they will start making solid boost long before that. They are all very good turbos for the street. While you won\'t have the instant boost like stock sequential, the trade is well worth it, no way will the stock twins keep up on the street or the track. Not to mention all the heat you take out of the engine by removing the massive cast iron restriction bolted onto the block, and coupled with the simplicity and reliability of a single turbo and you just can\'t go wrong.

a set of BNR\'s = About £1600
A decent single turbo kit with wastegate and manifold = £2500 (then you have to mess about with the loom etc.)

I wasn\'t really thinking about new to be fair... BNR\'s never seem to go cheap on second hand market, but you often see small singles going for a song as people go large.

OK sooo am guessing i need go for bigger porting than a street porting if am gona go single ?

what will the effect be if i have a big port but say am running stander\'d twins ?

as am hopping to send my block to pipe over the next few weeks so he can build the block then send the car down for the block to be fitted, hope i can find my injectors lol

Decide on the turbo and then ask Pip to port to match it. :yes
Single Turbo time!

its all about how much power you want really, if its 400bhp, id just stay with stock twins and a big streetport, if you want more power than that then buy yourself a single kit, or make your own to save money

suba

There is a lot more too it than that - see my earlier post on this thread.

I would just go with a street port, the larger you port it, the more overlap it has and low end drivability will start to suffer. It will require a higher idle and more fuel. What happens when running a large port with twins or even a small single is that the engine wants a lot more air in the higher rpms and the turbo\'s can\'t supply it. They run out of breath. This leaves a flat feeling in the upper rpms. Even with stock ports those turbo\'s listed aren\'t going to feel laggy, they make positive pressure very quickly.

400 FROM STNDR TWINS!!!! they will only last me two days before they blow lol and need replaced lol

LOL true ill have a set coming off mine in the next few weeks when i start going single so you can blow them up as a tester to see how long they last hahaha. Go single i was going to stay on twins but ive seen the light.

not really, there has been people driving around at that level for a while and not had issues, its all about the condition of them.

Im running mine at 17psi and i drive mine nearly everyday, but when i up the boost to 20psi i think that will be the time i put them under strain

99 spec twins are another option. They tend to be in better condition. But for the money of bnr\'s it\'s just  more worth it to go single turbo. While your power goals are very low, most people end up wanting more power later. Pretty much anything will get you the power you\'re after, but imo single turbo is the way to be.

ZAB

OK think am gonna put a post up 2marro asking ppl with a t04 if they are willing to take me out for a blast lol so i can put my mind to rest and go single.

thanks for all the help and info guys

Mine lasted less than 6 months at 0.95 bar/360 ish atf, and they were pretty new.

400 will kill them. Fast.
