Paul / Mark,

I am ever so sorry... I posted all the info on the RX8OC forum and forgot to do the same on here!!!  Women, huh?! :D

Most definitely still on!!  Here it goes:

QuoteDear Drivers!

With the day fast approaching, please find the following information on how, when and where to be to get the very best out of the day!

The Day!
The format of the day is will be slightly different to previous days in that due to the high demand for instruction we will begin the instruction stage at 9am. If you have booked instruction could you please arrive by 8:30 for sign-on. Places will be allocated on arrival. Please also note that tuition slots are shared with another driver as it is an integral part of the process that you also get to observe the handling characteristics of the cars was well.

Currently, we have unusual weather for us in that the BBC forecasts White Cloud, although any regulars will know that we are bound to have sunshine.

You need to bring:
Yourself, obviously.
Both parts of your driving license, if you have a two part licence, should we need to see them.
A crash helmet (if you don\'t have one, we rent them out for £10 for the full day).
Clothing - long sleeves are not required, but it is an airfield, so dressing warm never hurts!
Lunch - There is a Tescos and a pub nearby, but on this particular open day there will be no on-site catering, except for cups of tea and coffee. We will be breaking for 45 minutes.

Your car:
Your car should be in good mechanical condition. This means that your brakes should be fully operational, and your tyres should have good tread.
You should aim to have around 1/2-3/4 of a tank of fuel for the day.
There are fuel stations approximately 5 minutes away from the venue with BP Ultimate.
We are running a self volunteered 98dB noise limit.

When and Where?
Our days are held at Finmere Aerodrome. The closest town is Little Tingewick. The venue is marked on most signs as \'Sunday Market\' - and is right off the main roundabout. There will be a Mazda on Track banner outside the entrance.
We are asking customers to arrive after 9:00 for signing on, unless booked on tuition. There will be a mandatory safety briefing at 9:45am which all drivers must attend, unless involved in tuition at that point. Those drivers will get a separate briefing before going on track. Don’t worry, it does not take long. The key point is if you don’t behave, we will release the MoT Leopard, for her breakfast.
We will pause at 12:30 for lunch. Driving will finish at 16:00.

Here is the map of the area: http://tiny.cc/iIOPY

Passengers and Tools / Spare Wheels.
Whilst we cannot guarantee the safety of any tools and spares left around, we will have a designated area for tools, spares and fuel cans.
Passengers will need to sign an indemnity on the day.

Tyre services
We will be joined by Mint Tyres who spacalise in supplying part worn tyres at very reasonable prices for destroying on days like these. Their details are below and you should contact them directly to discuss any requirements you have. They can also fit new “end of day” rubber if you so require for your drive home. Thanks Crissy. Do you know if the 98db is static or srive by? Totally forgot about this aspect as I will be using my new EGI which is a lot louder than my old one. Should be fine if drive by, but not so sure about static.

Thanks

Mark

Edit:
Just looked on there site and it says that its a self imposed 100db limit, so I should be ok.

You\'ll be fine. I have the same problem with the Scoobie, have no idea how many dB it produces but as a gauge I could hear the mechanic revving it for the MOT some 400+ yards away and around a block of buildings.

Worst case scenario it will be you, Mrs Hanky and myself sitting on the naughty noisy step for the day  :D

Lol, oh MrsHanky is no longer coming along as she does not want to leave our newish baby just yet.  But a friend might take her place if he can get a permission slip :)

Brakes were sorted last night but unfortunately not tested as the battery is fubarred :(
So one more thing to get now.

Looking forward to Friday though :)

(Largely a re-post of what I said on RX8OC forum, if you\'ve read that already, stop here........)

Awesome day out; many thanks to Crissy, plus NickD and the MoT ream for getting this together (and arranging the fine weather ;)). Although I didn\'t use Mint Tryes\' services this time around, big thankyou to Steve and his team as they seemed to be working flat out for much of the day.

A fantastic bunch of people turned up, so a great social day out too. Had a massive laugh attack passengering in Paul\'s red Knightsport RX-7 FD. God, I wish I had that acceleration in a straight line - great handling in the corners too.

I was on my own tyres (new a few months ago)  and wanted to use the day to explore the limits (and Tein suspension settings) in order to feel more confident in pushing it harder on trackdays. I\'ve never had the DSC fully off for such a long period and feel massively more confident now at early sensing of under/oversteer and controlling it. No big drifting sessions from me (on my tyres!), just plenty of under/over steer excursions, which earned me the title of "Mr Sensible" from NickD

Hopefully they\'ll be some pics/vids later to show people what they missed. For £50, this was a great day out.

Had a great day too. all that for £50!
I have to say I had great fun joy riding in my own car, driving like I stole it and not worrying about hurting me, the car or finding my self locked up in jail!
I was amazed what the FD could do and now aware of what I cant do (yet maybe) nice bunch of people, all in all a good day + weather !

Casy glad you enjoyed the \'joy\' ride!

Hope to see some pictures/videos?

Paul.

Also had a great day and wanted to say thanks to the organisers.  Nice to meet you Paul, your FD was very nice and sounded loads better without the bung :)

I took some in car video footage but have only upoladed 1 so far.

Looked and felt so much quicker in the car.  My brother was videoing this from outside at the same time and it looks loads slower and really quite rubbish :(

Really had a hard time trying to get the backend out and was gutted when in my brothers skyline as it was just so much easier with a truck load of power.  Hay ho.

Great day anyway and well worth £50.

Thanks

Mark

It was great to meet Paul and see Mr Hanky and his brother going round the circuit, sorry I never got to say hello to either of you.  :)

The boys on the RX8OC forum came back all excited and can\'t wait for the next fun day out so I hope that you will be able to make it again.

Having miserably failed to encourage our friends to embrace smooth and sensible driving techniques the new "Just Slide, f**k the Drive" day will be held somewhere South West of London direction (I can\'t remember the name of the place), again in an airfield but with tarmac surface. It will be another reasonably priced day out organised by our lovely friends at Mazda on Track and will probably take place on a Saturday sometime between January and February to break up the monotony of the winter months.

Will post up the details as soon as they are available and will be praying for a mild winter so that we can all get there.

Well done Mark and Paul for coming along, it was awesome watching you giving it large around the cones!  :)

MrHanky

Hi Crissy,

Yep, sorry I did not get a chance to say hello but you were either busy chatting away or out in the Scooby :)

Good plan with the f**k the drive and JUST slide say :)
My whole day was spent just trying to make the car go sideways.  Unfortunately there wasn\'t much success.  Now looking at diff options for my car :)

Might try and get along to the next one if it isn\'t too far away.

Thanks again for organising a great day

Hey guys,

The venue is near Stroud in Gloucestershire. Would you be happy to travel all the way there?

:)
