Quick message, my local Tesco\'s are selling 500ml bottles of T-cut for £1.24p (in the filling station), "Every little helps"!

Ian65

Cheap enough!
How\'s the car coming on Steve?

Steve-M

It\'s still 2-tone! I\'ve been flatout busy for the past few months and so the important things in life have been coming second. On the plus side I bought BPA 702Y off the bay last week and so have been increasing my carbon footprint these past few evenings!

Ian65

Fair play, that\'ll keep you busy then.
How\'s it drive?

Steve-M

Handles like a pig on roller skates with a fair bit of bump and grind, plus the clutch is a bit tired but I\'m one happy stress free guy at the mo\'

Hi Steve....I\'ll make you a multiple 1st Gen owner then. A rare privilege granted only to a few honoured individuals.

Cheers   Dave.

Dave - I may not be a multiple owner for long as my wife is after the series 3!

Hi Steve, no problem with your wife having a series 3 - just make sure it\'s a BMW though.

Visiting Tesco\'s superstore like we all do, I made a beeline for the aisle with all cleaning stuff (no not the household cleaning products - that\'s womens work or boy am I in trouble if her indoors sees this one) and came across a shelf with oil on it, the kind that we like run through our hands and carress the essential parts of the body - yep good old Castrol GTX right next to \'T-Cut\'.  Brilliant I thought, a squeezy bottle of 150ml and guess what - £6.50 a tube!  Yep left it on the shelf and went and bought some rubber gloves instead.
Suppose the main difference being that this wasn\'t the filling station hey.  Cliff

I have been waiting for somebody to realise that they\'ve screwed up the price so have been buying a bottle with each petrol purchase (£25 as the tank leaks above that!), I guess I now have xmas presents sorted!:Santa

Marcrs

They could be giving it away for free...I still wouldn\'t use it ;)

Tend to agree - I\'m not a fond lover of it but I used it on \'JAZ\' after it had been laid up for a number of years parked under trees and it was terrific for removing tree sap and the odd area of hardened tar etc.
It was also great in the engine bay and brought it up like new.  Cliff

Thats an idea! I\'ve never bothered with the engine bay, I believe steam cleaning does more harm than good.
But \'T\' cutting it?.....hmmmm......that suits my old josser "do a little bit today, a bit more tomorrow" mentality. Plus the results will be good if yours are anything to go by Cliff.

Whats the blue brake fluid then, in the Clutch reservoir?

Well spotted - never miss a trick.  It\'s a high performance fluid which I used when I had Dolomite 1500 auto, mainly used for copper brake lines but also totally acceptable for more normal lines - Dot 5.5 if I remember correctly (I\'ll find container and scan information).
Quite honestly I much prefer to use high pressure jet washing but a little difficult with all those electrics around but I haven\'t actually touched the engine yet so that still to do.  Engine bay took around 3 weeks to do (as you say, a little here, a little there - bruised and scratched fingers and back of hands) oh what a joy - worth it though.
Don\'t know whether you noticed that I\'d colour coded the plate infront of the radiator - could not understand why Mazda never did this from new as to me it looks better and was a no brainer (attached fotos show before & after).

I think T-cut has a bit of an unjustly bad reputation, fair enough I\'d never pay full price as that would make it more expensive than "proper" compounds,  but for this price I\'m happy to make use of it. If I\'m cutting the paint on a car that has some dents and blisters then it\'s fine in my book! To be fair, I\'ll make use of anything that\'s cheap or free!
PS It\'s good for polishing metal too!
