Some nice cars, owned by peeps.Loved the Renault 5 GT turbo & the Lancia turbo\'s,always wanted a lancia monte carlo, but tooooooooo many bucks.

Worst car i ever had was my mums Austin Allegro,a mighty 1.3 from memory, hydro spastic suspension,a square steering wheel & worst of all it was a french mustard colour!
It was embarassing driving it,thanfully the engine blew up after 4 months of my careful ownership:3gears-rh:Nono!

Love the Montecarlo\'s there is a lime green one up t\'other end of town.

One day I will own a HF Stratos in full AirItalia livery though-I just have to.

As for the Allegro Stu, after "fake tailpipegate" I\'d have kept that under my hat!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I loved the Montecarlo as well.... got put off by the fact it was a Lancia, which as we know, is Italian for rust!
Gorgeous design though, looks a bit like a 308 which is one of my favourite cars.

A mate of mine had a Montecarlo, had to run round with a bag of cement in the front to make it perform ....................

Blimey Stu, that sounds horrible! What a crap car they were!
I learnt to drive in my dads M reg Maxi in that mustard colour, a pathetic excuse of a car. Thankfully the gearbox went for the 1,000 time and he changed it for a MK4 Cortina just before I passed my test.
Thank god for that!
The only good thing about the Maxi was that it folded out into a double bed but at the age of 17, it was beyond my powers of persuasion to coax even the most desperate bird into a Maxi!!

It\'s a shame Lancia didn\'t learn they\'re lesson with the Gamma which were known to be rotton through by 3 years old. A good friend of mine is veeeeeery passionate about Lancia\'s and has a 1981 Beta 2000 HPE which his Dad completely stripped and zinc plated back in the mid 90\'s and passed on too him-I\'m pretty confident it is one of few in it\'s current condition! They tend to stick to family cars now I think, long gone are the days of conquering the world with the Delta S4 (pre turbo supercharging-what lag!?!!) which is sad as regardless of rust they still new how to make hell of a car.

Yeah a genuine one would set you back a fair bit-there is a complete kit available though which uses either an Alfa V6 or for those who have got de monies a Ferrari V6 to keep faithful to the original. That one on Top Gear was a kit-I think Sir Clarkson said that was £12K plus engine which I think is not bad for the amount of charisma and grin factor they have. Plus I daresay a kit variant would be built better!

CHC (RIP)

I had a 1964 Hillman Imp, absolutely great for zipping round in.  Quite big inside and quiet too, Main problem being that you needed a bag of cement or a bail of straw in the boot - well actually in the front - so that it would hold the road.

I drew away from a garage once and as I wound the window up it came out of its runners and finished up on my lap..... we laughed that much I had to pull over before I crashed.

The other main issue was that Chrysler built the gearbox and fitted a 50p threaded stud which was coupled to the gear selector - bl**dy twice that stud sheared, once in York and my future father-in-law came out after finishing work and towed me back @ 70 MPH on motorway (he fogot he was towing me) - talk about a white knuckle drive s**t!  It would cost £40 plus back in the early 70s and I an apprentice earning less than £20 a week then.  After the 2nd time I got shut quick.
