Has one of the intercooler boost pipes come off or even loose? Check them all carefully, also holes or splits in hoses.

if you were doing 120 in fourth you were pulling 7k so maybe you have chipped a tip.

When its idling do the boost guage fluctuate at all?

666rex

boost reading as it normaly does but deffo lost power, checked all the boostpipes i can and had to tighten 2 up, still feels chuggish tho, i live in the north east shud i take it to mazda, dont no wat 2 do:reallymad:reallymad:reallymad

turbotoaster

i wouldnt take it mazda, most of the young lads working there have never even seen a rx7 never mind work on one.

You need to go to a rotary specialist, the only one up in the north that i know of is WGT, hes not cheap, but very good with solving problems.

There is hayward north which is actually closer now i think about it, id try them out, number is 01302 726763 and ask for steve

666rex

cand haywood north do compression tests also i want the map looking at, cheers.

does a chiped tip mean rebuild time or is it fixable:2Confused

turbotoaster

chipped tip is rebuild time, they can do everything i think, give them a call on monday.

saw rolley today mate. told me you tested it as i said, and got less than 3 bar accross the two rotors. :( sorry mate.

seems like all i ve been doing is helping people to diagnose rebuilds these days.

on the other hand im a bit of vulture so if your breaking i might have some bits off you lol

rx jamie

oh and will you text me rolleys mobile number please fella. forgot to get it off him.

666rex

yeh gutted m8, let me know wat ya want cos icarnt afford 2 fix it, shame aswell cos it supposedly had 5 grand rebuild last summa and i\'ve hardly used it, anyway cheers fa ya help jamie:reallymad:reallymad:reallymad:reallymad:reallymad:reallymad:reallymad:reallymad

karl_tate

what do you mean less than 3 bar across two rotors?? did you just use a normal comp tester?

hi karl, yeh just standard compression tester, is this not right?

cheers
nick

a comp tester for a piston engine will only give one value where with a rotary tester you will get a value for each face of the the rotor such as 7.1,7.3,7.2. To be honest i would expect a piston comp tester to hold at the highest value so 3 bar on each rotor is not good at all.
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

karl_tate

Hmm.. You say your boost gauge is just normal at idle? Does it sound the same or does it sound like a tractor?
