Quote from: Ian65;697826you\'re right there Ross, took my new 1st gen out tonight and it was magic.
Can\'t you borrow a mig welder and do the welding yourself?

As ive never even touched a welder before. i think ill leave it to someone who knows what they\'re doing, even if it does cost me a decent amount of cash and delays the car getting on the road :(

Back, Back Back Guys.

The Turkish GP was magic. In a stand on Turn 1, a downhill 90 degree left right at the end of the pit straight.

You should have seen Ham and Butt hounding those Red Bulls. 4 cars doing 200 mph in line astern almost out of control - braking 200 metres from the bend. Awesome.

Schumie was trying hard at that time in 5th but couldn\'t make up ground.

Then Vettel and Webber broke the No 1 golden rule of all teams, and I\'m sure you all know what happened then.

A great race, glad I was there.

welcome back!
I used to be into the formula 1 races. Remember going to Silverstone in 1992 when mansell won the championship in red 5, he just blew the rest of the field away around silverstone that day. I was in Luffield and someone near me unfurled a huge banner that said \'only nuts come from Brazil\' and then Senna broke down right next to it!
Lost interest in the Schumacher years....boring..boring... better now with a more competitive field.

You haven\'t missed much here! Any new ones are somewhere in this thread.

Wellcome back David, you are right the Turkish GP was one of the best for a long time.
The last GP I went to was the Belgium some years ago, drove over in my then XJS.
The day after the race I went around the part that is open to the public, and remember
going up the part by Eau Rouge only to meet a caravan at the top of the doing about
110mph, lucky in those the reactions were a bit quicker ...................

Quote from: Ian65;697823we had a bit of a surge of new owners and members on here a couple of months back....
where\'ve they all gone?

Hi Ian, yeh does seem to have quite recently - I\'m as guilty as others.Computer been on the blink for many weeks so just trying this out. Also spent the last 10 weeks or so (mainly weekends) working on \'JAZ\'. Looked it over when i bought her in March and decided that a lot of tlc was needed to make her road worthy - so rather than just doing the necessary for mot, decided to do the job properly so started at the front and am working my way to the rear.Front bumper off - de-scaled, de-rusted, straightened out dents and re-sprayed steelwork. Polished outer wrapping and re-fitted but not re-mounted.Front nose cone off, de-cal removed, rubbed down, primed, minor filler and finally sprayed - oops almost forgot to mention that my local paint supplier sold me the wrong colour code (he used a Ford equivalent which was similar to arctic white instead of my shade - no chip ident for an \'83 model apparantly).Cleaned up engine compartment so it looks pretty new now. New battery fitted along with new clutch master cylinder and a replacement slave.Front end de-rusted, primed and re-painted also nose cone re-mounted and bumper re-fitted.Front inner wings cleaned, prepared, painted and undersealed.Offside underside rubbed down, prepared and guess what - yeh found the old rust monkeys had been active for quite some time - had to go inside, strip out seating and boy what a mess where the floor pan meet with inner wheel arch.  Cut out floor and plated with stainless steel - mig welded. Transferred to underside, outer sill, inner sill, inner vertical plate and front end of wheel arch cut out - stainless steel welded in (pretreated inner steelwork first) - just need to rub down, minor filler and paint.Tonight I just tackled the near side floor and sill areas - just cutting out and preparing. On top of this I\'ve also just picked up a series 2 from Crawley yesterday - this is to be project 2 later this year.Sound a good reason for not being on recently? I hope so.  Will try and attach a few pics.  Cliff - No computer still can\'t be right as it wont let me insert an image (will keep trying). c ya

Sorry guys, meant to say that I picked up a 2nd generation (D289 THR) not a series 2 (still think 1st generation is better looking).Saw this advertised on eBay and looked good, been dry stored apparently for 9 years or so and needs some tlc along with possibly some mechanical encouragement.  Cliff

Blimey Cliff,
no wonder you haven\'t had time to get on the internet!
you have been busy!
are you planning to use/drive  the 2nd gen or put the engine into JAZ?

CHC (RIP)

Intend to keep both of them au-naturale.  No my plan is to keep JAZ for high days & holidays so to speak. Restore the 2nd gen - although I haven\'t looked her over properly yet - and if all goes well with JAZ, I\'ll start \'RAZ\' around Sept. RAZ I would use more as a daily run around. The big question to ask is \'what do I do when \'RAZ\' is finished? Cliff
